Nancy Pelosi has “changed the course” of the role of Speaker of the House “for the history of this country,” according to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is calling into question whether Pelosi is fit to serve as Speaker after her annoucement of an impeachment inquiry into President Trump yesterday.
During the announcement, Pelosi claimed that President Trump “violated the law, based on nothing that she had read, based upon a whistleblower that wasn’t even listening to a conversation, with an [inspector general] saying that the whistleblower has political bias,” McCarthy explained.
Previously, McCarthy had declared, “I just watched the speaker yesterday demean the office of the speakership.”

Kevin McCarthy continued calling into question Nancy Pelosi's treatment of her position as Speaker of the House, stating,
“This questions her ability to even be Speaker in my eyes."

The Hill has more to say about House Minority Leader McCarthy's questioning of whether Pelosi should be allowed to remain Speaker of the House:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blasted Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) decision to launch an impeachment inquiry, calling it a “dark day” for the rule of law.
He also questioned whether Pelosi should stay on as Speaker or step down.
“I think what the Speaker did was a dark day, not only for this institution, but for the rule of law. And she put this country in harm's way when it comes to national security and our view around the world,” he told reporters Wednesday.
McCarthy said it was wrong for Pelosi to launch an impeachment inquiry as President Trump met with foreign leaders at the United Nations.
“At the exact same time, the leader of our country is sitting in the U.N., meeting with other world leaders — a challenge with Iran, a challenge with China and others — and she stands before that she's going to do a press conference all day long to say what's going to happen with impeachment, and she claims he violated law with no proof, with no information, simply the fact that she does not like the outcome of the election,” he said. “That questions her ability to even be Speaker in my eyes.”
Kevin McCarthy went a step further to blast Pelosi as being a puppet of...wait for it...AOC!
He told Sean Hannity, "If you want to know what Speaker Pelosi's going to do tomorrow, read what AOC tweets tonight."
McCarthy seems to be reffering to the Democrat-socialist congresswoman's tweets on Saturday blasting her own party for not impeaching Trump yet:
Fox News has more on this:
Following the announcement that House Democrats would open an impeachment inquiry into President Trump for his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking her cues from freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Twitter feed.
"I don’t know why the Democrats are excited, because first of all, they just made America weaker," he said Wednesday on "Hannity." "What Nancy Pelosi did... was nothing. She did not bring an inquiry forward. If you want to know what Speaker Pelosi's going to do tomorrow, read what AOC tweets tonight.
"Because AOC tweeted over the weekend, Nancy Pelosi is now trying to appease the socialist wing of the party," McCarthy continued.
"They're going to be embarrassed when these transcripts come out. And I hope the American public wakes up. Have we not learned what we just went through, the last two years? Adam Schiff lying to the American public saying he had proof, more than circumstantial. This stuff has to stop. It’s making America weaker."
