FEDS Raid The Office of Longtime Democrat State Sen. Martin Sandoval!

Just try and tell me nothing is happening.

Because if you think that, you’re clearly not paying attention.

Another day, another HIGH LEVEL Democrat goes down in a major raid.

This time it was longtime Democrat State Sen. Martin Sandoval from Chicago.

Chicago and fraud?

No, you don’t say!

Actually we don’t know what the charges are yet, but fraud would rank pretty high up on the betting list if the oddsmakers were to make one.

Let’s just say I don’t think the FBI swoops in and raids for jaywalking, ok?

Here’s what we know so far:

Here are more details, from the Chicago Sun Times:

FBI agents on Tuesday raided state Sen. Martin Sandoval’s political office in Springfield and his Southwest Side home.

FBI Special Agent John Althen confirmed Tuesday that federal agents were in the state Capitol conducting “authorized law enforcement activity.” Althen declined to comment further.

Federal agents were also seen at Sandoval’s home in the Gage Park neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. A black SUV was parked outside with a FBI Chicago field office placard in the window.

At 2:25 p.m., two men emerged from the home dragging multiple rolling containers. The men, who were in plainclothes, didn’t identify themselves when reporters asked, but at least one of them was armed with a handgun and had handcuffs on his waistband.

Agents from IRS Criminal Investigation were also outside Sandoval’s political office Tuesday morning in Cicero.

A man answering the door at Sandoval’s home told a reporter to call Sandoval’s office. Sandoval has not responded to requests for comment.

Sandoval was elected in 2013 and also chairs the Senate’s Transportation Committee. He is the latest Illinois politician to gain the attention of federal authorities. Sandoval shares a district with Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, whose inner circle has also caught the eyes of the feds.

Since the beginning of the year, Ald. Edward M. Burke (14th) found himself under indictment for racketeering. Former Ald. Daniel Solis has been exposed as a government mole who began wearing a wire after the feds built a case against him. Ald. Carrie Austin (34th) is the subject of another grand jury investigation. And investigators also appear to be circling Madigan allies.

And from the Chicago Trib:

Federal agents on Tuesday raided the Springfield and Cicero offices of longtime Democratic state Sen. Martin Sandoval as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, according to a source.

The FBI led the raids at Sandoval’s office in the state capitol as well as his regional offices in the 5800 block of West 35th Street in Cicero, the source said. The exact nature of the investigation was not disclosed.

An FBI official stationed in the Senate Democratic office space near Sandoval’s office in Springfield turned back a Chicago Tribune reporter seeking comment on Tuesday morning, directing inquiries to the FBI field office in Chicago.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., at least eight men left the Senate Democratic offices carrying two cardboard boxes, two brown bags labeled “evidence” and what appeared to be a desktop computer, wrapped in plastic. They loaded everything into two SUVs.

An FBI spokesman confirmed that agents were at the capitol Tuesday conducting “authorized law enforcement activity,” but declined to comment further. The spokesman had no immediate comment when asked about the search of Sandoval’s Cicero office.

A man who answered the door at Sandoval’s Southwest Side home said the legislator was not home. Later, two officials with duty belts and handcuffs came out of the home to get wheeled hand trucks, taking them inside. One later identified himself as from the Internal Revenue Service criminal division.

Sandoval could not immediately be reached.

Vote RED, the other side is NUTS!
