WALK AWAY FROM NIKE: Ted Cruz Launches Nike Boycott!

First, veterans called for a Nike boycott after the sports brand company pulled a patriotic 4th of July shoe they had already manufactured because Colin Kapernick cried that the Betsy Ross flag featured on its heel was racist!

Now, Sen. Ted Cruz has vowed to never buy Nike products again until the company “ends its contempt” for American values and is launching a #WalkAwayFromNike campaign on Twitter!

Check out the Texas senator’s bold move in these tweets he posted calling for a Nike boycott:

If you need a refresh on why proud Americans like Ted Cruz are boycotting Nike, watch this hilarious summary on the situation from the Hodge twins on Twitter, who are comedically crying out collusion between Nike and Kaepernick:

Here's some more background on the situation from The Wall Street Journal:

Nike Inc. is yanking a U.S.A.-themed sneaker featuring an early American flag after NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter.

The sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week. The heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.

After shipping the shoes to retailers, Nike asked for them to be returned without explaining why, the people said. The shoes aren’t available on Nike’s own apps and websites.

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured the old version of the American flag,” a Nike spokeswoman said.

After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery, the people said. Some users on social media responded to posts about the shoe with similar concerns. Mr. Kaepernick declined to comment.

Breitbart has more details on Sen. Cruz's #WalkAwayFromNike campaign:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) launched a #WalkAwayFromNike boycott campaign this week after the left-wing company pulled its “Betsy Ross Flag” shoes.

“I love America. I stand for the anthem, respect the flag & honor the men & women who fought to defend our Nation. I respect Free Speech & I’m exerting mine,” Cruz tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

“[U]ntil @Nike ends its contempt for those values I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE NIKE PRODUCTS. #WalkAwayFromNike RT if you agree,” he added.

In another tweet, Cruz wrote: “It’s a good thing @Nike only wants to sell sneakers to people who hate the American flag…. @NFL #HappyFourth.”

The Wall Street Journal reports although the shoes in question, the Air Max 1 USA, are already manufactured and ready to ship, Nike abruptly decided to dump the product after one of Nike’s commercial spokes-babies, failed quarterbackg Colin Kaepernick, whined that the 13 star flag created by Betsy Ross at the request of George Washington, is connected to the slave era.

The backlash was immediate, even the fully cucked-out Joe Scarborough agrees that Nike’s decision was outrageous.

Thus far, Cruz’s call for a boycott has over 21,000 comments, 20,000 retweets, and 44,000 likes.

The Hill also has the following to say about it:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday said he would never buy Nike products again after the company scrapped its plans to release a "Betsy Ross flag" sneaker following public pushback from people offended by the design.

"I own lots of @Nike I’ve been a life-long customer, since I was kid," Cruz tweeted. "But they’ve now decided their shoes represent snide disdain for the American flag. Since they don’t want my business anymore, I won’t buy any more. Can anyone recommend a good sneaker co that’s not so woke?"

A day earlier, Cruz and other Republicans railed against Nike's decision to cancel the release of a shoe featuring a Revolutionary War-era flag design.

The company had planned to release the Air Max 1 USA featuring the design this week, according to The Wall Street Journal.

But Nike reportedly scrapped those plans after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick voiced concerns with the design, according to the Journal Kaepernick, who is sponsored by Nike, said the early American flag was an offensive symbol connected to an era of slavery, the newspaper reported.

Nike then asked retailers to return the product.

“We regularly make business decisions to withdraw initiatives, products and services. NIKE made the decision to halt distribution of the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July based on concerns that it could unintentionally offend and detract from the nation’s patriotic holiday," Nike said in a statement to The Hill.

What about you?

Are you going to walk away from Nike and refuse to buy their products?
