Trump Derangement Syndrome? Man Lights Himself on FIRE Outside White House!

The "inflammatory" moment was caught on video by eyewitnesses and released on social media.

Although it has yet to be determined whether or not the suicide was politcally motivated, some Twitter users are speculating that this may have been the most extreme case of "Trump derangement syndrome" yet.

The man who set himself on fire Wednesday afternoon near the White House has died, according to the National Park Service.,

The man was identified as Arnav Gupta in a Thursday update following his death, which officials said had occurred the night before.

"The individual was extinguished and later transported to a local hospital for treatment," the Parks Service said in a statement Thursday. "The Bethesda MD man identified as Arnav Gupta, died of his injuries later that evening. In accordance with policy, the investigation has been turned over to the Metropolitan Police Department."

It's unclear if the man was trying to make a political statement.

Montgomery County, Maryland, police issued an alert Wednesday that Gupta, 33, was missing and that they were concerned about his "physical and emotional welfare." He had last been seen at his home that morning at about 9:20 a.m.

TMZ had the following to share regarding the man who caught himself on fire, who may have been hallucinating and on drugs:

8:05 AM PT -- D.C. law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... cops believe Gupta was high on a drug called K2, which was laced with PCP.

We're told responding officers saw signs Gupta was hallucinating -- he also did not respond to their commands to roll over as they tried to extinguish him.

K2 is a synthetic THC, composed almost entirely of chemicals, which is banned in the U.S. There have been widespread incidents of people getting violent and delusional on K2.

5/30 5:05 AM PT -- The man died from his injuries Wednesday night in the hospital. 

Authorities identified him as Arnav Gupta of Bethesda, MD. He was 33 years old and his family had reported him missing on Wednesday morning.

It's still unclear if Gupta had any specific motive ... however, cops in Maryland had said in a media release early Wednesday -- prior to his self-immolation -- that they were "concerned for Gupta's physical and emotional welfare."

12:09 PM PT -- According to the emergency dispatch audio -- obtained by TMZ -- the man suffered burns on 85% of his body. There was also a suspicious package on fire near the man which was extinguished.

11:35 AM PT -- A law enforcement source tells us the man was transported to the hospital with "life threatening" injuries.
