New York Democrats are putting illegal aliens before veterans – literally.
While the state hardly has their fiscal house in order, New York approved a state budget that funded $27 million in college tuition for illegal immigrants. They called that act the “DREAM Act,” as if illegal immigrants are the only ones with dreams. Depressingly, there was no such compassion for the family members of those willing to sacrifice their dreams by fighting for their country.
As Fox News reported:
New York Assembly Democrats on Tuesday blocked a bill that proposed expanding college tuition aid for children of deceased and disabled military veterans after– having a week earlier– approved a state budget that set aside $27 million in college tuition aid for illegal immigrants.
The Assembly’s Higher Education Committee voted 15 to 11 on Tuesday to shelve the bill, effectively quashing its chances of going to the floor.
Even Snopes couldn’t deny the absurdity of this story!
In their defense, Deborah Glick (who voted in favor of the $27 million for illegals):
…said any expansion of college tuition aid to Gold Star families was not within the state’s budget and pointed to an already-existing program that provides $2.7 million to 145 students who are dependents of vets who served in combat zones.
So illegals deserve ten times the funding as Gold Star families, according to Mrs. Glick.
Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo played damage control by stating that  “We have a moral obligation, a social obligation to help those families who lost their provider, their loved one, in service to this nation.” Another bill is now being proposed to help Gold Star families after all, but only because of the rightful outrage in response to illegal aliens receiving disproportionate benefit.
If New York is so keen on helping their illegals, perhaps they’ll take Trump up on his offer to begin busing illegals to sanctuary cities. New York is already putting illegals before their own citizens, after all.
