JUSSIE SMOLLETT OFF SCOT FREE: All 16 Charges Dropped; Miscarriage Of Justice?

You kidding me?

File this under “are you freaking kidding me?”

If you haven’t heard all these details yet, you might want to sit down….

News broke today that Jussie Smollett is going to walk scott free after all charges against him are being dropped!

Look at this smug shit-eating-grin as he walked into court:

TMZ explained more:

State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office says, "After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett's volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case."

The statement is consistent with what our sources said about Jussie only getting community service if he'd been convicted. The decision is NOT sitting well with Chicago PD.

On the other hand, Jussie's co-workers on "Empire" are celebrating on Twitter.

And here's what Fox News had to say:

Calling himself a man of faith, “Empire” actor Jussie Smollettsaid Tuesday that he felt vindicated after a stunning reversal by the Cook County State Attorney’s Office to drop all charges against him in an alleged hate crime hoax.

Smollett was accused of faking an anti-black, anti-gay hate crime in Chicago in order to drum up publicity for his role on the Fox drama.

News of the dropped charges came as a surprise to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendant Eddie Johnson. Both men angrily pushed back angrily at the decision.

“From top to bottom, this is not on the level,” Emanuel told reporters at an afternoon news conference.

"Our officers did hard work day in and day out, countless hours workign to unwind what actually happened that night. The city saw its reputation dragged through the mud ... It's not just the officers' work, but the work of the grand jury that made a decision based on only a sliver of the evidence [presented]," he continued. "Because of the judge's decision, none of that evidence will ever be made public."

Johnson added, "If someone ever falsely accused me [of a crime], I would never hide behind a brokered deal and secrecy."

Smollett, who posed with fans outside the courthouse soon after the news was announced, thanked his friends and family for standing by him. He also thanked the state of Illinois for "attempting to do what's right."

“Not for a moment was it in vain. I’ve been truthful and consistent on every level since day one,” he said. “I would not be my mother’s son if I was capable of one drop of what I was accused of."

Smollett called the attack and the months that followed "an incredibly difficult time."

"Honestly, one of the worst of my entire life," he said. "But I am a man of faith and I'm a man that has knowledge of my history and I would not bring my family, our lives, or the movement into a fire like this. I just wouldn't. Now I'd like nothing more than to just get back to work and move on with my life. But make no mistake, I will always continue to fight for justice, equality and betterment of marginalized people everywhere."

It seems like everyone NOT named Jussie Smollett is furious about the result.

Local WGNTV reported that the Police Union wants an investigation into the prosecutor to determine if she's corrupt and broke the law:

Chicago's police union is calling for a federal investigation into the Cook County State's Attorney's actions in the Jussie Smollett case.

Three days after Smollett claimed he was attacked, Kim Foxx asked Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson to turn the case over to the FBI.

The request came after Foxx exchanged text messages and emails with relatives and a supporter of Smollett, who said they were worried about leaks in the investigation.

Foxx later recused herself from the case.

The FOP wants federal investigators to determine whether Foxx broke the law.

Even far-left Mayor Rahm Emmanuel is pissed!

From TMZ:

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is very strongly hinting at corruption in the State's Attorney's Office, calling the decision to drop the charges against Smollett a "whitewash of justice."

The Mayor added, "From top to bottom, this is not on the level." He called for accountability from the prosecutors.

Emanuel was joined by Chicago PD Superintendent Eddie Johnson who said he didn't feel justice was served by letting Smollett off the hook.

What's more, Johnson said if Jussie was, in fact, innocent ... he should've taken his day in court, and not broker a backdoor deal in secrecy. Bigger picture -- Johnson feels the City of Chicago is still owed an apology, as he believes Jussie carried out a hoax.

Watch him here:

Reaction online was almost universally angry and dumbfounded, from the left and the right:
