A huge win for Melania Trump came today as it was announced the British Telegraph newspaper will be paying “substantial damages” to Melania Trump over a very Fake News article.
A big win for Melania, for truth, for good!
Another blow to Fake News and the Crooked Media!
I love how one Twitter user put it: “the hits keep coming”:
Yes they do keep coming!
You know why?
Because Fake News and the Crooked Media is not learning any lessons!
Let's recount the three BIG hits in just the past week:
BuzzFeed lays off 15% of its staff!
The Huffington Post shuttered it's Opinion Section and fired the entire editorial board for the Option Section.
Judicial Watch Just Uncovered Hundreds of Thousands of Taxpayer Dollars Spent on Pelosi Trips!
And now "substantial damages" awarded to Melania Trump.
So when will the Crooked Media finally wake up and change their ways?
Will they?
Or will they just go head first off a cliff? Because that's the direction they're headed right now if they don't immediately turn course!
Here are more details on this WONDERFUL story:
From Bloomberg:
The Telegraph agreed to pay U.S. First Lady Melania Trump “substantial” damages after running an article in its magazine a week ago that it said included “a number of false statements” and shouldn’t have been published.
The British newspaper said “The Mystery of Melania,” the cover story of its Jan. 19 edition of the magazine, it made erroneous claims about her family and career. The article can no longer be found its website.
In an explanation titled “Melania Trump -- An Apology,” the newspaper wrote that the first lady’s father was not “a fearsome presence and did not control the family.” It also said she didn’t leave her studies in design and architecture at university due to an exam, but because she wanted to pursue a career as a model. It also said it inaccurately stated she was “struggling” as a model when she met Donald Trump, now the president.
It corrected the timing of when she met Trump, and when her family arrived in the U.S. The apology also said the story erroneously reported she cried the night her husband was elected president.
“We apologise unreservedly to The First Lady and her family for any embarrassment caused by our publication of these allegations,” the Telegraph article said. “As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs. Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs.”
CBS News confirmed the story:
Britain's Telegraph newspaper has apologized and paid damages to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump after publishing an article it says contains many false statements. The newspaper said Saturday it apologizes "unreservedly" to Mrs. Trump and her family for any embarrassment caused by the content of a cover story published Jan. 19 in the newspaper's weekly magazine supplement.
"As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs. Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs," The Telegraph said. The newspaper did not disclose the size of the settlement with Mrs. Trump.
The Telegraph said it falsely characterized Mrs. Trump's father's personality, falsely reported the reasons she left an architecture program, and falsely reported her career as a model was unsuccessful before she met Donald Trump.
"We accept that Mrs. Trump was a successful professional model in her own right before she met her husband and obtained her own modelling work without his assistance," the newspaper said, also acknowledging it had incorrectly reported the year when the couple first met.
"The claim that Mrs. Trump cried on election night is also false," The Telegraph said.
It also retracted the statement that Mrs. Trump's father, mother and sister had relocated to New York in 2005 to live in buildings owned by Trump.
According to BBC News, a spokeswoman for Melania Trump said she often encountered "opportunists out to advance themselves by disparaging her name and image."
The spokeswoman continued: "She will not sit by as people and media outlets make up lies and false assertions in a race for ratings or to sell tabloid headlines."
