We call this the Trump Boomerang Effect.
We can’t explain it, but it appears to be unstoppable.
In short, the TBE says that if you attack Trump, the attack will boomerang off him and come back to take you down.
We’ve seen it over and over again, and the TBE just struck notorious Trump-hater George Lopez.
It was reported today that Lopez is facing criminal battery charges stemming from an October altercation over a fan referencing “Make America Great Again”.

Here are more details, as reported by TMZ:
Law enforcement sources tell us George will have to appear in court next month on a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly roughing up a guy who tried filming him at a Hooters in October ... as the comedian was leaving the restaurant.
We broke the story ... George grabbed the back of the young man's neck ... a guy who had previously asked to take a pic with the comedian. The guy jabbed George with a Trump joke, and then all hell broke loose as George was on his way out.
According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, cops tracked George down the next day at a golf course and asked for his side of the story. Basically, George told cops he didn't want to be filmed, and that's why he tried grabbing the guy's phone away.
George also told cops he believes the guy was trying to bait him by lying in wait at the front door and by throwing out "MAGA" jokes, knowing George is vehemently anti-Trump.
The officer says he informed George he'd be receiving a court summons for misdemeanor battery and that George was compliant.
The Washington Times also covered it:
Comedian George Lopez is headed to court on battery charges over an October “MAGA” confrontation that turned physical and was caught on camera.
A police report obtained by entertainment website TMZ confirms that a summons was delivered to the anti-Trump celebrity one day after grabbing a man’s neck inside Hooter’s restaurant in New Mexico. The incident, which was recorded with a cellphone camera, shows Mr. Lopez approaching a man while talking about “bull—t.”
“He’s a bada—. Look at him! He wants to fight me. Oh! George wants to fight me,” a man says as his cellphone camera and seemingly his neck was grabbed by the comedian.
Mr. Lopez told officers that the restaurant patron was trying to goad him into violence with repeated pro-Trump rhetoric.
He is scheduled to appear in court sometime in December, the website reported.
Here is the TMZ report from the original incident in October:
We spoke with the guy who Lopez grabbed by the neck in a shocking video taken at the wing joint in New Mexico. Sources close to George initially told us Lopez went off after the man had allegedly followed and egged him on all night with Trump references.
The guy in the video tells a different story, saying he only approached George at his table once that day to ask for a pic. He says George grabbed his phone and started filming his own crotch ... but never hit record.
We're told George eventually gave the phone back and, wanting to make him smile and ease an awkward situation, the guy said, "On the count of 3 say Make America Great Again!" Lopez clearly didn't find the comment funny ... because he was on his way out of the restaurant when our video starts.
As for why he chose a Trump reference, the guy says he was aware of Lopez's disgust for 45 and just wanted to crack a joke. For what it's worth, the guy in the video tells us he's a Democrat on paper.
Police confirm they got a call about the scuffle and are looking into the incident.
