The liberal press is taking another big old bite on a Trump Nothingburger today.
An interesting revelation, leaked from Robert Mueller’s desk, is that Donald Jr. and someone at Wikileaks (probably Julian Assange, given the status of whom the company was trying to contact) correspondend in private text messages over Twitter in 2016.
That’s “secret” messages, according to the MSM. Makes it sound more “conspiratorial.”
Except that the record of text messages is actually evidence that Trump Jr. acted wisely. The First Son mostly ignored Assange, except when asked for a comment about a pro-war Democrat site that Wikileaks was gleefully planning to swipe documents from.
Don Jr. replied that he hadn’t heard of any new pro-war, anti-Trump website but he would bring it up in conversation.
The briefness of Jr’s non-starter reply can also be seen as a “chat walling” tactic. Donald Jr. ignored Assange over the next few months, as the AP (via Fox News) report clearly states:
“Over the last several months, we have worked cooperatively with each of the committees and have voluntarily turned over thousands of documents in response to their requests,” Alan Futerfas, an attorney for Trump Jr., said in a statement.
“Putting aside the question as to why or by whom such documents, provided to Congress under promises of confidentiality, have been selectively leaked, we can say with confidence that we have no concerns about these documents and any questions raised about them have been easily answered in the appropriate forum.”
According to the report, the messages are part of a long correspondence between WikiLeaks and Trump Jr., though Trump Jr. reportedly ignored many of the messages.
Later, Don Jr. did reply to a message about Hillary Clinton wanting to drone-assassinate Assange, saying he had already shared the story. It might as well have been 2 pals talking in a bar – Clinton’s barbaric pro-war ideology is well-known to the public.
Banning the use of drones for illegal executive-ordered assassinations is an important issue for conservative and libertarian voters.
No information was shared illegally, just banter on an issue on which Assange and Trump strongly agreed.
Junior was professional, cautious and yet friendly an anti-war journalist during the campaign. He did great!
Meanwhile, the crocodile tears and twanging about treason shows just how hypocritical Democrats can be.
As in, chatting with political dirt-diggers from Europe is treason…until the Dems are caught doing it, over and over again!
