Emergency crews and hazmat teams responded to a massive gas tanker explosion in Frederick County, Maryland.
According to reports, a gas tanker truck crashed next to a neighborhood and caused multiple homes to catch fire.
The driver of the gas tanker reportedly passed away.

The driver of a tanker that exploded Saturday into massive flames in Frederick has died.
Multiple vehicles and homes were damaged by the flames caused by the overturned tanker. No other injuries or fatalities were immediately reported.
Maryland state fire marshals are reporting to the scene, as well as the Maryland Department of the Environment, according to Maryland State Police.
Southbound U.S. Route 15 reopened at around 3 p.m.
Fire Chief Tom Coe confirmed at a press conference that all fires were extinguished, and the investigation is ongoing.
Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor posted this update to Facebook:
Our City is thankful for the support of our Governor Wes Moore and our state agencies with regard to today’s tanker fire. The response from the federal, state, county and local levels is a reflection of the best of our community. This work is the reason why this incident was not more tragic than we experienced today.We will continue to monitor the effects of this incident, due to the hazardous materials that spilled but initial reports are positive that there is no damage to Carroll Creek or our sanitary sewer system.
