Video of Greta Thunberg Being Detained by Police Appears to be Staged

Allegedly, climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained by police at a climate protest at a coal mine Sunday.

Video surfaced of Thunberg being seemingly detained by German police after protesting the expansion of a coal mine in the west German village of Lützerath.

Something didn’t feel quite right about the video, as she could be seen awkwardly smiling while police carried her away.

A second video has just begun to hit social media, and it appears to show Thundberg posing and laughing with her detainers just beforehand.

Yep, it looks like the whole thing was a staged photo-op.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg was among climate activists detained Tuesday during protests against the demolition of the coal village of Luetzerath, police said.

Thunberg was detained while protesting at the opencast coal mine of Garzweiler 2, some 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) from Luetzerath, where she sat with a group of protesters near the edge of the mine.

Thunberg, who joined the protesters on Friday, was seen sitting alone in a large police bus after having been detained, a Reuters witness said.
