California Plans To Give $223,000 To Each Descendent of Slaves

The liberal utopia of California is planning on costing taxpayers billions in a new reparation project.

A California panel has suggested that the state of California pay descendants of slaves $223,000 each.

The proposal is expected to cost taxpayers over 560 billion dollars.

The panel that is making the suggesting, was created by Governor Gavin Newsom back in 2020.

Washington Times shared these details:

A California panel has recommended that the state pay more than $223,000 to applicable Black residents who have been affected by housing discrimination, according to a report.

The state’s nine-member Reparations Task Force arrived at that figure by looking at California’s discriminatory housing practices used from 1933 and 1977 and how it affected the Black residents whose ancestors were in the U.S. in the 19th century, according to a Thursday report by The New York Times.

The task force suggested that Black residents lost out on over $5,000 per year during the designated time period, according to KTTV.

Discriminatory housing practices include Black communities being bought out or seized through eminent domain in order to be bulldozed for new infrastructure projects, according to the New York Post.

There are multiple ways the reparations could be paid — either through tuition, housing grants or direct cash payments.

The National Review added these details:

The California Reparations Task Force, a nine-member panel appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom, projects that Black state residents could be eligible for as much as $223,200 per person as part of an effort to redress historical housing discrimination.

The number derives from the “housing wealth gap” Black Californians have allegedly experienced as a result of discriminatory policies in place between 1933 and 1977. The task force estimated that the policies cost black residents $5,074 per year.

The task force passed a motion in March outlining eligibility based on “an individual being an African American descendant of a chattel enslaved person or the descendant of a free Black person living in the US prior to the end of the 19th century.”
