U.S. Air Marshals Reportedly Plan Mutiny After Biden Orders Them to Southern Border

U.S. air marshals reportedly plan to “mutiny” against an order from the White House to leave their posts aboard commercial flights and take posts at the U.S. southern border.

Dozens of marshals have promised to disobey the order in protest, Air Marshal National Council President David Londo toldĀ The Washington Examiner.

Biden ordered U.S. air marshals to the southern border to make up for the lack of Border Patrol agents.

ā€œThe rank and file air marshals are going to refuse to deploy and risk termination,ā€ Londo said.

ā€œYouā€™re almost going to have a mutiny of a federal agency, which is unheard of.ā€

ā€œMorale is so destroyed from this,ā€ he added.

ā€œIā€™ve never seen anything like this.ā€

From The Washington Examiner:

U.S. air marshals are planning to stage an open rebellion against theĀ Biden administrationĀ over a plan that would strip 99% of commercial flights from federal protection as people take to the skies during the busiest time of the year forĀ air travel.

Dozens of federal air marshals have agreed to refuse a Biden administration order that they leave their assignments and go to theĀ southern border, where they will drive, feed, and care for illegal immigrants due to a shortage of Border Patrol agents.

The overseeing agency, the Transportation Security Administration, said in a statement provided after deadline that claims that air marshals are doing menial tasks were “entirely inaccurate and does not reflect the critical and professional law enforcement role these officers perform.”

The administration’s order would leave just 1-in-100 U.S. flights with federal agents on board, one-eighth of its normal coverage.

It is the first time amid the 20-month-long unresolved border crisis that federal employees have formally turned against PresidentĀ Joe BidenĀ and hisĀ Senate-confirmedĀ officials at theĀ Department of Homeland SecurityĀ . The air marshals are willing to risk everything for how the government is risking national security, Londo explained.

The Daily Wire added:

The Federal Air Marshal Service asked marshals last year to volunteer to spend a 30-day stint at the southern border helping border agents process migrants. Last month, the Biden administration made the deployments mandatory.

In a letter obtained by the Examiner, Londo wrote to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, TSA Administrator David Pekoske, and Federal Air Marshal Service Director Tirrell Stevenson that the marshals had lost ā€œconfidenceā€ in the officialsā€™ ability to lead.

ā€œAs it stands today, we believe that many FAMs will refuse to deploy, believing the order is reckless and leaving our country vulnerable to attack,ā€ Londo wrote. ā€œOn behalf of our membership, stop these dangerous and irresponsible deployments before our adversaries take advantage of the opportunity this policy has provided.ā€

The air marshalsā€™ organization is drawing support from other outside law enforcement groups in its budding fight with the Biden administration. The National Association of Police Organizations issued a statement backing the air marshalsā€™ protest, according toĀ Fox News.

ā€œThe Federal Air Marshal Service is understaffed and covering the fewest number of flights since before September 11, 2001,ā€ the association said. ā€œWe strongly question the decision by the Department of Homeland Security to divert much-needed aviation security to the southern border especially as we enter the busiest travel season of the year, particularly as a federal emergency has not been declared at the border.ā€
