Following the overturn of Roe v Wade, pro-choice individuals took to protesting Justice Clarence Thomas in particular.
The students at George Washington University were no exception to this, and a petition to remove Thomas from his position as a lecturer at the university, which garnered over 11,000 signatures, has led to his resignation.
Justice Thomas will not be returning in the Fall to teach the course he has co-lectured since 2011 at GWU.
His co-professor, Judge Gregory Maggs, will continue to offer the course.
Here’s the latest buzz surrounding the petition and his resignation:

Reuters claims:
“Justice Thomas informed GW Law that he is unavailable to co-teach a constitutional law seminar this fall,” a university spokesperson said in a statement.
The university “does not have additional information to share” about whether Thomas may teach at the law school in the future, the statement said.
Guessing lectures about how to ignore Supreme Court precedent and allow States to force 10 year old rape victims to give birth aren’t very popular at George Washington University. GWU’s Community spoke up and Injustice Clarence Thomas is gone. Well done. https://t.co/JulpY5IEk3

The Associated Press adds:
Thomas’ withdrawal was first reported by the GW Hatchet, the campus newspaper, which obtained an email from Maggs to students, telling them of the “sad news” that Thomas would not be co-teaching the class.
Thomas did not respond to a request for comment made to the court’s Public Information Office.
