The Proof Is In: Faith In Mainstream Media Hits Staggering New Low

It’s been obvious to conservatives for years, but it seems that Americans on both sides of the aisle now understand how hopelessly biased the mainstream media has become.

The latest evidence of this trend was revealed in a recent Gallup poll.

According to Newsbusters:

The American people’s trust in news outlets has hit a historic low, according to Gallup’s annual survey on confidence in major U.S. institutions. It’s like they’ve discovered that “straight news” isn’t their primary goal.

Both newspapers and television news have seen another drop in confidence over the past year, with each losing an average five percent of people who said they had a “great deal” of trust in such institutions. Gallup has been measuring “confidence in institutions” since 1973, and annually since 1993.

Television news is now considered the second least-trusted institution in America, after Congress, with just 11 percent of respondents telling Gallup they have “quite a lot” of trust in television news. Newspapers aren’t much better at 16 percent.

The news might be damning, but it doesn’t come as a surprise to a number of prominent conservatives.

The absence of reports about leaked details from Hunter Biden’s iPhone is just the latest glaring evidence of media bias.

Earlier this year, even lefty comedian Bill Maher acknowledged that the mainstream media was doing its best to cover up the shocking behavior of Joe Biden’s son.

NATIONAL POLL: Do You Still Have Trump's Back 100%?

As the New York Post reported in April:

Political comic Bill Maher mocked how several major news outlets have only just come around to reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop, saying the lack of coverage is “why people don’t trust the media.”

Maher said left-leaning media ignored the laptop because it wasn’t “part of their narrative” when The Post published its first, exclusive report on the topic in 2020.

“It looks like the left-wing media has buried the story because it wasn’t part of their narrative and that’s why people don’t trust the media,” Maher said on Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

The comments came after the New York Times verified the laptop just last month. The initial coverage had detailed how Hunter leveraged the political clout of his father Joe Biden to make money overseas.

Here’s a panel discussion on Fox News in which the participants discuss the media’s ongoing “credibility crisis.”
