Jury Finds Bill Cosby Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting 16-Year-Old Girl

Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby has once again been found guilty of abhorrent behavior.

A recent civil trial ended this week when a jury determined that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old victim in 1975.

According to Fox News:

Jurors found Bill Cosby sexually abused a 16-year-old girl in the civil suit filed by Judith Huth, who accused the former comedian of sexual assault at the Playboy mansion in 1975 when she was a teen.

Huth, now 64, told Fox News Digital shortly after the trial: “Victory is right. Love it. Happy as can be.”

She was just a teenager when she and a friend met Cosby at a Los Angeles-area park, where he was filming the movie “Let’s Do It Again.”

The 12 jurors nearly reached a verdict on Friday, but were forced to begin deliberations again on Monday morning after Judge Craig Karlan was required to clear the courtroom at the Santa Monica Courthouse at 4:30 p.m.

Karlan at first indicated he would accept a partial verdict in the case, but then had to change his mind when the bailiff informed him the building was closing and the Sheriff’s Department could not incur overtime expenses.

Cosby was released from prison last year when a 2018 sexual assault conviction was overturned.

The latest case sparked renewed interest in the man who was once a respected and admired cultural icon.

Many critics on social media insisted that he deserves to be behind bars once again.

Although Cosby was found liable for the 1975 assault, his attorneys considered the verdict a win because he was only ordered to pay his victim $500,000.

As Yahoo reported:

A California jury has found that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted Judy Huth at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was a teenager. Huth, now 64, was awarded $500,000 after four bizarre days of deliberations. Although Cosby’s been accused of sexual misconduct by 60 women, this was the first civil case to reach trial. Cosby, who denies a sexual encounter occurred, did not attend the trial in Santa Monica.

According to Tuesday’s verdict, jurors believe Cosby intentionally caused harmful sexual contact, that he reasonably believed Huth was under 18, and that the actor was driven by unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in a minor, according to the Associated Press. It’s a big setback for the once beloved comedian, who was freed from prison last year. However, his spokesperson calls the verdict a “huge victory.”

“This was a huge victory for us because they [were] looking for millions of dollars. That amount will not cover the legal bills and we will be appealing that matter. However, Mr. Cosby will not be paying punitive damages,” Andrew Wyatt tells Yahoo Entertainment.
