Trump Jr. Has Perfect Response After Fauci Tests Positive for COVID

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci has tested positive for COVID-19.

Much of the left has heralded Fauci as a deified source of infallible knowledge throughout the pandemic.

His critics across the political spectrum, however, have called him out for contradictory advice and questionable behavior throughout his decades at the helm of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

Despite his calls for mass vaccinations and mask use, Fauci confirmed this week that he contracted the virus.

According to CNN:

Fauci, 81, has mild symptoms and has been boosted twice, the institute said in a statement. The institute told CNN that he is being treated with the antiviral medication Paxlovid.

NIAID said Fauci found out that he was positive on a rapid antigen test. The director will work from home and follow agency protocol, returning to the National Institutes of Health campus only after he tests negative.

Fauci was scheduled to speak Thursday at a hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee on the status of the federal response to Covid-19 and plans to manage the pandemic. The agency said he will attend by videoconference.

Fauci has not had any close contact with Biden or other senior officials recently, the institute said.

Plenty of pundits and politicos wished Fauci well, but a number of detractors seized on the opportunity to take a dig at the longtime bureaucrat.

He wasn’t the only one to respond with sarcasm.

While appearing remotely for a hearing this week, Fauci did not provide any information about his health.

As Yahoo reported:

He did, however, spar with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who frequently confronts Fauci during his appearances before the panel.

At Thursday’s hearing, Paul pressed Fauci on the efficacy of COVID vaccines for children, claiming the “only proof” health officials have presented is that they produce antibodies.

“I think that is somewhat of an absurd exaggeration,” Fauci shot back.

Here’s a clip from a November hearing on Capitol Hill, which includes one of several heated exchanges between Fauci and Paul.
