Conservative Twitter Users Are Seeing Radical Changes Overnight—Literally

Gaining 87,000 followers in a single day is a pretty cool thing…

Of course, it rarely if ever happens. The only thing I can think of which would lead to someone gaining 87,000 followers in one day would be some sort of global or newsworthy event relating specifically to that individual.

Yet this is exactly what happened to Donald Trump Jr…

Don Jr. is used to getting well under 10,000 followers per day, and he is arguably a large personality, but he has done nothing noteworthy lately—he’s managed to stay off the news!

You can imagine his shock when he woke up after Elon Musk purchased Twitter to find that he had gained 87,000 followers overnight!

Several other conservative personalities have reported something similar, and we all have to wonder: has Twitter shifted its censorship policies overnight in response to Musk buying the platform?

I think this is exactly what happened. Let’s hope he can get to them and fully expose them before they destroy the evidence of their censorship and duplicity.

Noticing an increase in followers and engagement after losing huge chunks (or static follower count for weeks on end) for the past few years. Also seeing tweets from people I whose accounts I never see and am not having to refollow other conservatives repeatedly.

Don Jr’s account had grown by between 5,000 and 10,000 tweets a day in recent weeks, with the spike in the wake of Musk’s announcement immediately obvious.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also saw a huge 141,566 people on Tuesday, according to SocialBlade statistics. That is a vast increase on the 5,000-or-so followers the popular GOP governor generally gains in the average day.

Fortune reports that left-wing users are losing droves of followers overnight, while right-wing accounts are gaining:

However, largely missing from the list of users complaining about a loss of Twitter followers were conservative and right-wing accounts. In fact, a number of users in this group actually gained followers in the last 24 hours.

While users like Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez all lost more than 10,000 followers overnight, according to data from social media analytics tracker SocialBlade, conservatives like Ted Cruz, Newt Gingrich, and Laura Ingraham gained.
