The White House is furiously passing the buck these days.
In light of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, rampant inflation, and skyrocketing gas prices, Joe Biden and his handlers are insisting that it’s all Vladimir Putin’s fault.
As a matter of fact, he is denying any responsibility for the fact that motorists are paying the highest per-gallon price for fuel on record.
One reporter attempted to get a straight answer out of Biden on the topic recently.
Here’s his response, as reported by CNN:
A staggering surge in the elevated cost of filling up since Russia invaded Ukraine represents another gut punch for consumers already swamped by a 40-year peak in inflation coming out of the pandemic.
And Biden acknowledged on Tuesday there is more pain to come, telling reporters his executive order banning imports of Russian energy signed Tuesday will heap more pain on gasoline prices ahead of spring break and summer vacation.
“They’re going to go up,” Biden said as he flew into America’s oil patch in Texas, where he was visiting veterans. “Can’t do much right now. Russia is responsible.” The President’s offhand remark is unlikely to soothe Democratic fears of a possible Republican rout in November’s midterm elections.
Biden continued to blame Russia for the current situation in a series of tweets this week.
Let me say to the oil and gas companies and finance firms that back them: We understand that Putin’s war against the people of Ukraine is causing prices to rise. But that is no excuse for excess price increases, or padding profits, or any kind of effort to exploit this situation.

The ban on Russian oil and gas has strong bipartisan support in the Congress and in the country.
Americans have rallied to support the people of Ukraine and made it clear we will not be part of subsidizing Putin’s war.

Loosening environmental regulations won’t lower prices.
But transforming our economy to run on electric vehicles, powered by clean energy, will mean that no one will have to worry about gas prices.
It will mean tyrants like Putin won’t be able to use fossil fuels as a weapon.

Of course, there are plenty of critics who think the whole narrative is nonsense.
One of them is Fox News Channel correspondent Peter Doocy, who challenged White House press secretary Jen Psaki on the matter.

Even some GOP lawmakers are getting in on the act.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) asserted that the Biden blame game is “a flat-out lie.”
This is a flat-out lie.
Gas prices have increased 48% under Biden—BEFORE RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE.
Biden did that.
That’s bc Biden:
– killed Keystone pipeline.
– froze federal leases.
– shut down ANWRAll, while Biden waived sanctions on Putin’s pipeline. https://t.co/RiBgpX1n9s

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) asserted that gas prices are rising by design.
The White House and the media want you to think gas prices are all Putin’s fault.
That’s a lie. This was always their plan.
Biden was saying it back in 2020.

Ordinary Americans are also pushing back against the White House’s assessment of the situation.
According to Fox News:
Americans feeling the price at the pump told Fox News that President Biden’s claim that he “can’t do much” about soaring gas prices does not add up.
“That’s a bunch of bull,” Chester from Kentucky said.
Lynn, of South Dakota, told Fox News: “There has to be reserves here in the states, that they can release.”
Nevertheless, Psaki continues trying to sell Biden’s flawed theory — despite the backlash from reporters like Doocy.
Here’s a longer clip from of one recent exchange.
Do you believe Biden is responsible for higher gas prices?
