BLM, Defund-the-Police Rep. Cori Bush Shot at (Again) in St. Louis, MO

Oh, the irony.

Congresswoman Cori Bush’s vehicle was caught in gunfire in St. Louis, MO.

Of course, we only wish peace and safety for our civil servants and leaders.

However, it’s impossible not to note the irony here.

Bush has been outspoken for the radical BLM movement.

But that’s not all.

She has also pushed massive efforts to defund-the-police.

In other words, Bush supports the very policies that have led to the nationwide crime wave.

And now… she appears to be a victim of that crime wave.

Her vehicle was struck by bullets.

But this doesn’t appear to be a targeted attack.

Rather, it appears that these were stray bullets from nearby violence.

Here’s where things get weird:

Though she was a victim of gun violence, Bush is still pushing to defund the police.

You would think she would be awake to the rise in crime due to her policies!

Local KSDK News has more information:

A vehicle belonging to Congresswoman Cori Bush, D-St. Louis, was hit by gunfire early Saturday morning, according to a source close to the representative who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the matter.

According to the source, the vehicle was parked in the St. Louis area and Bush was not in the vehicle at the time and was not injured.

It is not believed that Rep. Bush was targeted, according to the source.

When asked about the incident Rep. Bush told 5 On Your Side in a statement, “Like far too many of us in St. Louis, experiencing gun violence is all too familiar.”

“Thankfully no one was harmed. But any act of gun violence shakes your soul,” Bush said.

There was evidence that someone had tampered with the door handles of other cars in the vicinity at the time of the gunfire that hit Bush’s vehicle, the source said.

This isn’t the first time that Bush’s car has been hit by a stray bullet.

This is the second time in two years that her vehicle has been hit by bullets.

And she still wants to let criminals off the hook?!

Of course, despite the fact that she wants to defund the police, Cori Bush continues to hire her own personal security.

In other words:

Rules for thee, but not for me.

The Daily Mail has more details:

Critics are laying into ‘defund the police’ advocate Rep. Cori Bush after her car was struck by gunfire in St. Louis early Saturday, marking the second time her vehicle has been hit in two years.

Bush – who spent nearly $70,000 on private security last year – has repeatedly called for the slashing of police budgets and a reallocation of funds to social services, despite having been victimized by crime at least four times.

Twitter users blasted her logic Thursday after she confirmed on the platform that her unoccupied car had been struck by gunfire, saying ‘any act of gun violence shakes your soul.’

‘I’m touched by everyone who has reached out. Thankfully no one was harmed,’ she wrote, adding: ‘That’s why our movement is working to invest in our communities, eradicate the root causes of gun violence, and keep everyone safe.’

Retorted a fellow Twitter user: ‘Still think defunding police and releasing criminals is a great idea, Cori Bush?’

This was the second time her car has been caught in a hail of gunfire.

The 45-year-old shared a similar experience on June 20, 2020, when posting a photo of her bullet-stricken Hyundai on Twitter.

‘My car took the bullets,’ she tweeted at the time. ‘A bullet went through my door handle on one side of the car, another went through my tire on the other side. I’m committed to taking us from “surviving St. Louis” to “living it.”’

It’s not clear whether she called the cops following last week’s shooting. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department could not find a report of the incident, nor could St. Louis County police. There are dozens of other municipalities in the St. Louis region and it’s possible she reported the crime outside the city.

This recent crime wave is proof that we need to support our police to keep us safe.

In major cities all across the nation, crime continues to rise.

But it’s not just cities.

Small towns are also falling victim to violent crimes as well as gang violence.

Turns out that when you want to defund the police, the criminals take notice.
