New York Teacher Arrested After Being Accused of Giving Teenager COVID-19 Injection

A New York teacher was arrested for allegedly injecting a 17-year-old with the COVID-19 jab at her house without parental consent.

Laura Russo, 54, was arrested on New Year’s Eve in Sea Cliff after police were informed of the alleged injection.

It’s unclear how the Nassau County science teacher secured the COVID-19 injection vial since she isn’t authorized to administer vaccines.

Russo reportedly gave the 17-year-old a dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 jab, which is only approved for Americans 18 years and older.

The New York Post reported:

Laura Russo, 54, who is not a doctor or authorized to administer vaccines, was busted for the New Year’s Eve incident at her Sea Cliff residence, according to Nassau County police.

The authorities were notified after the teen left Russo’s home and told his mother about the jab, according to cops.

Russo was charged with unauthorized practice of a profession and released on a desk appearance ticket.

She is due to appear in court on Jan. 21, police said.

FOX News added:

“The individual in question is a district employee who has been removed from the classroom and reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation,” Herricks Public Schools Superintendent Fino Celano told Fox News Digital on Monday. “The alleged incident is non-school related. As this is a matter of personnel, the district has no further comment.”

When Fox News Digital called a phone number purportedly belonging to Russo, she hung up before a reporter could ask her if she would like to comment.

Detectives say Russo gave the teenage boy an injection of what is believed to be a coronavirus vaccine, according to WABC.

Police reportedly were notified after the teen left Russo’s home and later told his mother what allegedly happened.

The relationship between Russo and the boy was not immediately clear, but police say she is not a medical worker and was not administered to give vaccines, the New York Post reports.

Conservative Daily News added:

Russo reportedly was a science teacher with Herricks Public Schools in New Hyde Park, although her page on the district website is no longer available. She has been taken out of the classroom as a criminal investigation proceeds, the district said in a statement to NBC 4.

Russo was arrested and released, but she is expected to return to court on Jan. 21, according to the police report.

Herricks Public Schools did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
