Is “flurona” the latest scare tactic to terrify the world heading into 2022? Omicron is mild compared to previous strains of COVID-19, and fear from the latest variant is likely waning quicker than public health officials would like.
South Africa, where omicron allegedly began, has already gotten over its wave of the variant without a spike in deaths.

While omicron panic may quickly subside, the fearmongers appear to be making another pitiful effort to petrify the public. The latest craze is supposedly a combined case of COVID-19 and influenza. Thus, they coined the name of this bug “flurona.”
In addition to making an unusual comeback, the flu has now joined forces with COVID-19 to create this new scary viral strain.
Not The Onion. . . Seriously?? You think the flu just took a year off??!! https://t.co/hjRpI0r92f

Israel reported its first case of flurona in a birthing mother and health officials suggest more cases where individuals contracted both viruses.

Ynet News reported:
Israel has documented its first case of the so-called “flurona” — a simultaneous coronavirus and influenza virus infection, Ynet has learned on Thursday.
The double infection was first identified in a woman who went into labor this week at Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva. According to the hospital, the young mother, who is not vaccinated against either pathogen, is feeling well and is expected to be discharged from the hospital later Thursday.
The Health Ministry is still examining the case, which was relatively mild, and is yet to determine whether a combination of the two viruses causes more severe illness.Health officials estimate many other patients have also come down with both bugs but have not been diagnosed.
“Last year, we did not witness flu cases among pregnant or birthing women,” said Prof. Arnon Vizhnitser, an obstetrics and gynecology specialist and the director of the hospitals’ Gynecology Department.
“Today, we are seeing cases of both coronavirus and the flu that are starting to rear their head. We are seeing more and more pregnant women with the flu. It is definitely a great challenge dealing with a woman who comes in with a fever at childbirth and you do not know if it’s coronavirus or the flu, so you refer to them the same. Most of the illness is respiratory.”
Mr Vizhnitser added that the patient did not experience any unusually serious symptoms.
He added: “She was diagnosed with the flu and coronavirus as soon as she arrived.
“Both tests came back positive, even after we checked again.”
I think the best way to describe this idiocy is The Knack song titled “My Sharona.”
That was my first thought when I heard about this latest nonsense to frighten everyone.

What do you think? Should there be a remix called “My Flurona” to clap back at this lunacy?
