Lawmakers Side With Seals Over Vaccine Mandate

Although I applaud these lawmakers, this entire situation is disgusting.

SEALs are some of the most highly trained soldiers in the world, some might say the most highly trained fighting force in the world.

They serve their country with honor and distinction, and the idea of forcing them to take an unnecessary vaccine or face discharge from the armed forces is awful.

That being said, 47 lawmakers have filed a brief in support of a group of SEALs facing discharge because their religious exemption to the vaccine mandate has not been honored by the state.

We don’t yet know if this brief will accomplish anything, but it’s nice to see political support for our elite warriors.

Here’s more on the story:

Just The News quotes the lawmakers:

With President Joe Biden’s support, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced in August that all U.S. service members must take the COVID vaccine.

“…this appears to be an attempted ideological purge,” said Mike Berry, general counsel for First Liberty Institute, the legal group representing the plaintiffs. “After all these elite warriors have done to defend our freedoms, the Navy is now threatening their careers, families, and finances.”

According to Fox News:

Cruz led seven of his Senate colleagues on the brief, which was also joined by 38 House Republicans led by House Republican Conference chair Mike Johnson of Louisiana.

The lawmakers wrote in support of the 26 Navy SEALs and other Naval service members, arguing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and the First Amendment protected their religious freedom rights to object to the Navy vaccine mandate.
