Recall Election Is Over Gov. Newsom Will Remain Governor of California

Despite numerous voters reporting they had technical difficulties while voting, the election race in California has been called and Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom will retain his position as the governor of California.

While 67% of the votes were in the Associated Press projected Gavin Newsom the winner of the election with over 64% (5,818,000) of the votes compared to Elder’s 35.8% (3,250,00) of the vote.

Republican candidate Larry Elder also officially conceded the race and told his supporters to “stay tuned’.

Many believe that the California election was rigged due to several republican’s in San Fernando valley earlier reported that when they tried to vote the voting machine wouldn’t allow them and in return the machine told them they have already voted.

Fox News shared these details:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will keep his job steering the nation’s most populous state.

The Associated Press projects that a majority of Californians have voted no – meaning against removing Newsom from office – in Tuesday’s recall election of the embattled first-term Democratic governor.

Newsom, who was overwhelmingly elected governor in 2018 in the heavily blue state, was facing a recall drive sparked last year mainly over accusations that he mishandled his state’s response to the coronavirus, the worst pandemic to strike the globe in a century.

Ballots were mailed last month to California’s estimated 22 million registered voters and needed to be postmarked or handed in by the time the polls closed, at 8 p.m. PT.

The Associated Press covered the story, check out what they had to say:

A defiant Larry Elder conceded his fight to become California’s next governor but indicated his first campaign might not be his last. “Stay tuned,” the Republican talk radio host told supporters.

Shortly after Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom easily beat back a recall effort to remove him from office, Elder told a cheering crowd Tuesday that “we may have lost the battle, but we are going to win the war.”

Incomplete election results had Elder far ahead among the 46 candidates who had hoped to replace Newsom if the recall succeeded.

Newsom will face reelection next year, and there has been speculation Elder could be in the running again. Elder referred to himself as a “former radio host,” suggesting his career was headed in a new direction.
