Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has proven herself to be the most radical member of the United States congress.
Since being elected, Omar has not made a single friend in the republican party.
Omar is now making more enemies in her own party, following some controversial and false comments about the United States and Israel.
In a tweet, Omar accused the United States and Israel of committing “unthinkable atrocities” comparable to Hamas and the Taliban.
Republicans and democrats alike are now calling out Omar for her lies.
According to our friends at the Daily Wire, 12 democrats have come out and condemned Omar for her comments:
House Democrats released a statement on Wednesday night condemning Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-NY) for comparing the United States and Israel to an Islamic terrorist organization. Only 12 Democrats condemned Omar, which is less than 6% of the total number of Democrats in the House of Representatives.
“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity,” Omar wrote on Twitter earlier this week. “We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.”
Reps. Brad Schneider (IL), Jake Auchincloss (MA), Ted Deutch (FL), Lois Frankel (FL), Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Elaine Luria (VA), Kathy Manning (NC), Jerrold Nadler (NY), Dean Phillips (MN), Kim Schrier (WA), Brad Sherman (CA), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL) slammed Omar in a statement.
“Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided,” they wrote. “Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice.”
“The United States and Israel are imperfect, and like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalence give cover to terrorist groups,” they continued. “We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the U.S. and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.”
Omar Compares the US and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban
The 12 democrats released a joing statement criticizing Omar.
The Washington Examiner has the details:
Ilhan Omar and a group of Jewish Democrats are waging a public battle sparked by her apparent comparison of the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, with those scolding her saying she gave “cover to terrorist groups” and Omar accusing her colleagues of using “islamophobic tropes.”
The incident shows that while Republicans offer the most frequent criticism of Omar, she also frustrates those within her own party.
A group of 12 Jewish Democrats led by Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois released a statement on Wednesday night scolding the Minnesota Democratic congresswoman and “Squad” member.
“Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided. Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice,” they said.
“The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups. We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the U.S. and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.”
The other signers were Reps. Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts; Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ted Deutch, and Lois Frankel of Florida; Jerry Nadler of New York; Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey; Elaine Luria of Virginia; Kathy Manning of North Carolina; Dean Phillips of Minnesota; Kim Schrier of Washington; and Brad Sherman of California.
The statement was a response from a Monday tweet from Omar that asserted: “We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.”
Included in the tweet was a video of Omar questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the prosecution of "alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity," though she did not specifically compare the U.S. to terrorist organizations in the video.
Omar and fellow radical Rashida Tlaib hit back at the democrats on Twitter:
Of course, only the Jewish democrats in the party have condemned Omar for her antisemitism.
The others are silent as usual...
