It’s Time to Ban the Use of Vaccine Passports

Vaccine passports would have been looked at as a conspiracy theory a year ago. Fast forward roughly 14 months and we are watching as people are being segregated due to their vaccination status.

We are being told that churches may reopen at increased capacity only if people have their vaccine passports.

This is absolutely horrifying.

At Yankee Stadium fans are literally being segregated into specified sections based on their vaccination status.

More news for baseball fans:

Starting May 19, full capacity seating at Yankee Stadium & Citi Field will be available for fully vaccinated people.

For unvaccinated the capacity will be 33% to comply with CDC social distancing rules.

Masks will be required for all fans.

Awake yet? It looks like those so-called conspiracy theories about vaccine passports have already come to fruition.

Despite the back and forth over the vaccine and whether or not vaccine passports are the answer, it appears some realize the ramifications a vaccine passport would cause.

Some are even coming to the realization that vaccine passports are akin to nazi Germany when the Hitler regime would demand people show their papers.

Thankfully, states like Iowa are moving to ban these draconian vaccine passports from being used to segregate people based on their vaccination status.

The Gazette.com reports:

Legislation banning “vaccine passports” in Iowa is on its way to Gov. Kim Reynolds for her expected signature.

The Iowa Senate voted 32-16 without debate Wednesday to approve House File 889, a bill that prohibits businesses, schools and state and local government facilities from denying access to people who haven’t had the COVID-19 vaccination.

In addition, all government entities in Iowa would be barred from issuing ID cards with a person’s vaccination history.

“Iowans don’t want to be forced to have a chemical injected into their body to be able to go to a baseball game, to go to the grocery store, to live their lives,” Senate President Jake Chapman, R-Adel, said. “Here in Iowa, we will protect Iowans from being forced by tyrannical governments to inject their body with chemicals that they may or may wish to have.”

The legislation would prohibit the mandatory disclosure of whether a person has received a COVID-19 shot. If any governmental entity or business violates the new law by requiring proof of vaccination, they could not receive any grants and contracts funded by state revenue.

The legislation makes exceptions for health care facilities, such as hospitals, clinics or nursing homes, and would not affect requirements that employers may place on their employees.

Sen. Jim Carlin, R-Sioux City, was the only Republican to oppose the bill, along with 15 Democrats, while Sens. Eric Giddens, D-Cedar Falls, and Jackie Smith, D-Sioux City, voted with 30 GOP senators in favor of the measure.

On April 7, Reynolds told Statehouse reporters she “strongly” opposes any mandatory vaccination disclosure system as “an attack on our liberties and our freedoms” and would take steps to restrict their use either through legislation or executive order.

The governor said the so-called vaccine passports pose constitutional, civil rights and privacy issues and potentially set up a “two-tiered society,” requiring Iowans to “either engage or become marginalized.”

It turns out that Iowa isn’t the only state that is attempting to do away with COVID-19 vaccine passports.

Here are 18 states that have pledged support for vaccine passports or opposition to the tech, listed in alphabetical order.

1. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order April 19 to prohibit all state and local governments from requiring people to prove their COVID-19 vaccination status to receive services or enter an area. The ban however does not apply to private businesses and healthcare institutions.

2. California is not pursuing a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine passport requirement but will work with the private sector to monitor the development of any passports mandated for businesses such as sports teams or event venues, Los Angeles Magazine reported April 26.

3. Connecticut is still up in the air regarding mandatory COVID-19 vaccine passports, despite Gov. Ned Lamont’s claims that the state would begin conversations on the topic once vaccinations open to everyone. Vaccination eligibility opened to all residents 16 and older April 1. In March, Mr. Lamont said he does expect “some type of passport or validation … probably led by the private sector, according to a May 5 Yale Daily News report.

4. On April 2, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order prohibiting the use of COVID-19 vaccine passports in the state, citing privacy concerns and freedom as the main reasons for the ban.

5. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp tweeted his opposition April 6 to “any kind of state-mandated” vaccine passport, writing that “While the development of multiple safe, highly effective COVID-19 vaccines has been a scientific miracle, the decision to receive the vaccine should be left up to each individual.”

6. Hawaii Gov. David Ige said April 5 that the state is testing the tech needed to support a vaccine passport, but that it won’t be ready for another four weeks or so, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. On April 20, Mr. Ige tweeted that the state will launch a vaccination verification program May 11 to support inter-county travel.

7. Idaho banned any state and government entities from requiring vaccine passports for residents to receive public services or access facilities, Gov. Brad Little said in an April 7 statement.

8. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said he thinks a vaccination app would be useful but should not be mandatory to enter any event or facilities, stressing that the tech would be offered as a personal choice, according to a March 24 Center Square report.

9. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds pledged on April 7 that the state will oppose vaccine passports legislatively or on an executive level as she believes the tech violates personal choice, privacy and HIPAA, according to local CBS affiliate KMTV.

10. Louisiana has not yet decided on any vaccine passport programs in the state, with Gov. John Bel Edwards referring to it being “a little early in the process to know how these kinds of vaccine verifications would actually work,” according to an April 7 local NBC affiliate WDSU report.

11. Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte issued an executive order April 13 prohibiting the use of vaccine passports, he announced on Twitter.

12. Nebraska will not participate in any vaccine passport initiatives, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced March 31, claiming the tech is a violation of “two central tenets of the American system: freedom of movement and healthcare privacy.”

13. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper at the end of March said his administration is exploring the development of a vaccine passport for residents, according to an April 21 North State Journal report.

14. In March, New York became the first state to launch a COVID-19 vaccine passport, dubbed Excelsior Pass. The digital platform is free and voluntary for New Yorkers to confirm recent negative PCR or antigen test results as well as proof of vaccination.

15. Pennsylvania senators on May 6 introduced legislation that would ban the state from requiring COVID-19 vaccine passports, Fox 43 reports. Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has previously said it would not require vaccine passports.

16. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee also took to Twitter April 6 to vocalize his opposition of the tech, writing that he believes the “COVID-19 vaccine should be a personal health choice, not a government requirement.”

17. Texas also instituted a ban on COVID-19 passports April 5, which prevents the state and some businesses from requiring passports of customers to prove they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

18. Utah passed a law in April that blocks the state government from requiring people to get the COVID-19 vaccine and use vaccine passports, according to an April 6 Salt Lake Tribune report.

While some are ok with government-mandated vaccine passports, many states across the country do not see it that way. This is why we have states and the 10th amendment to the United States Consitution. We should all support these states as they take on the tyrannical overlords in Washington DC.
