Chicago Mayor and BLM Silent After Deadly Weekend in the Windy City

As a native Chicagoan, I am unfortunately used to the weekend violence that plagues my city.

It’s hard to keep up with the sad stories that come out after a weekend of inner-city bloodshed.

Yet, the mayor of Chicago Lori LIGHTWEIGHT, err Lightfoot, does nothing.

In fact, for decades the city’s inner-city gang violence has been largely ignored by Democratic leadership.

Over the weekend, 4 people were murdered and over 20 wounded in Chicago. And it isn’t even summertime yet.

Here is how some are responding to a weekend of violence in the Windy City:

With a Mayor like Lightfoot, nothing ever gets done to address the constant and bloody inner-city violence.

Our friends at Fox News had the full story about Chicago’s deadly weekend:

Four people were murdered and at least 20 others were wounded during shootings throughout Chicago over the weekend, when police also announced the charges against a man who gunned down a 7-year-old girl at local McDonald’s drive-thru, according to authorities.

There were 20 shootings throughout the Windy City from 6 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, when 24 people were struck by bullets, Chicago Police Department (CPD) said Monday.

The earliest shooting reported over the weekend was a homicide involving a 27-year-old man who was discovered “lying on the street” of West 61st street in Englewood, unresponsive and with bullet wounds in his leg and stomach, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far, police have said the shooting victims ranged in age from 15 to 62 years old. The murder victims were 27, 30 and 36, though the fourth person’s age has not yet been identified.

On Saturday, police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Marion Lewis for fatally shooting 7-year-old Jaslyn Adams while she and her father were waiting in the drive-thru line of a local McDonald’s on April 18.

Lewis was nabbed on Thursday and hit with a slew of charges, including, but not limited to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, vehicular hijacking, aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle – all of which are felonies, police said.

This news comes as the Supreme Court gets ready to listen to a case about second amendment rights.

We all know the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

And we need to have a discussion about Black-on-Black/Gang violence in Chicago instead of trying to pass stronger gun laws.

Lori Lightfoot’s plan is to pass stronger federal gun laws to, you know, keep criminals from getting guns…

ABC7Chicago had the story:

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is growing increasingly frustrated with the availability of guns on the streets after a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed in a McDonald’s drive-thru over the weekend.

“Folks, we are living in madness if we don’t step up and deal with this problem. So yes, I’m very satisfied with what our police superintendent and the police department are doing in an impossible environment where we got to have help,” Lightfoot said.

The mayor called once again for common sense federal gun control legislation on Monday, but also called out the courts for not doing more.

Democrats are sure good at shuffling the blame elsewhere!

Here are some more comments from Twitter about the absurdity of black-on-black violence not being addressed:

Sadly, nothing will change under the city’s constant Democratic Leadership.
