An Oklahoma inmate is now dead after holding a correction officer hostage in the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
The situation occurred when the officer was handing out medication to inmates when he was attacked and tied up.
Other correction officers quickly arrived on the scene and tried to de-escalate the situation but when they saw a sharp object on the officer’s neck they shot and killed the inmate.
Videos of the incident were taken by the inmates and posted on Facebook Live.

Fox News broke the story, see what they had to share:
An Oklahoma City corrections officer was taken to a hospital Saturday after being held hostage on the 10th floor of the Oklahoma County Detention Center — with videos of the drama posted online.
That floor is known for housing the jail’s most difficult-to-manage inmates, The Oklahoman newspaper of Oklahoma City reported.
Officials confirmed for Fox News that one of the inmates holding the corrections officer hostage was shot and killed by Oklahoma City police officers.
The officer had been taken to the hospital for treatment, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known, Lt. Wayland Cubit of the Oklahoma City Police Department said.

The correction officer who was held hostage phone was taken away, which allowed the inmates to record the Facebook Live video.
Unfortunately, the officer’s family and friends had to witness the horrific situation in real-time.

The New York Times didn’t stay silent and shared these details:
An inmate was killed and a correction officer was injured after being taken hostage at the Oklahoma County Detention Center in Oklahoma City on Saturday, law enforcement officials said.
The officer was rescued and was being treated at a hospital, the Oklahoma City Police Department said. The nature of the officer’s injuries was unknown, and it was not immediately clear how long the officer had been held hostage.
The inmate was shot and killed by Oklahoma City police officers, officials said.
Just after 4 p.m. local time, as medication was being given to the inmates, the officer was overpowered and taken hostage by at least one inmate, Greg Williams, the administrator of the detention center, said in a news conference on Saturday night.
The inmate then took the officer’s radio and keys and freed other inmates, he said. No other staff member was injured, and Mr. Williams was unsure how many inmates had been released or involved in the standoff.
Some members of the community saw the killing of the inmate as unjust and started to protest the conditions of the jail.

An inmate literally held a correction officer hostage and people are protesting that inmate did nothing wrong.
How ridiculous is that!
