This whole thing was unthinkable 5 years ago……
I am once again reminded of Roman history here. We essentially have an invasion at the border, and the numbers are kind of staggering.
If you thought it was bad, just wait until you read through the reports……it’s worse than bad, it’s a complete catastrophe in my opinion.
Part of me definitely feels for the children caught up in this whole thing.
The children with irresponsible parents, who are CHOOSING to enter the country illegally, because a certain someone pretty much told them to come.
Take a look:
Axios reported:
Fresh internal documents from the Department of Health and Human Services show how quickly the number of child migrants crossing the border is overwhelming the administration's stretched resources.
In the week ending March 1, the Border Patrol referred to HHS custody an average of 321 children per day, according to documents obtained by Axios. That's up from a weekly average of 203 in late January and early February — and just 47 per day during the first week of January.
The same documents, dated Tuesday, say the shelter system is at 94% occupancy and expected to reach its maximum this month.
Meanwhile, some of President Biden's top officials responsible for immigration policy are planning a trip to the U.S.-Mexico border this weekend, sources tell Axios.
The influx of unaccompanied minors is a mushrooming problem for the new president and his policy and social welfare agencies.
Reuters had a related report:
The U.S. government is taking new steps to speed up releases of unaccompanied children to parents or other sponsors as the Biden administration grapples with a growing number of underage migrants arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.
President Joe Biden, a Democrat, earlier this month reversed a policy put in place by former Republican President Donald Trump that allowed U.S. authorities to rapidly expel migrant children caught at the border without their parents. The expulsion policy is still in place for most migrants, including families and individual asylum seekers.
In January, U.S. Border Patrol caught 7,300 unaccompanied minors crossing the border illegally, the highest number of arrests in the month of January in at least a decade and up from 4,500 a month earlier.
