AOC and the Squad Turn on Joe Biden After he Reopens a Child Migrant Facility

Joe Biden's administration is reopening a child migrant detention center in Texas, and AOC and her "squad" are not happy about it.

The only advantage to a Joe Biden presidency is watching as the radicals in his own party turn on him when he doesn’t meet their “progressive” demands.

That’s exactly what’s happening, after Joe Biden’s administration reopened a child migrant detention facility in Texas.

Biden, who in 2019 decried President Donald Trump’s handling of migrant children being detained, said that he would end child migrant detention if elected as president.

Of course, that was in 2019.

Joe Biden probably doesn’t remember what he had for breakfast this morning.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tore into Biden over his decision to reopen the facility, tweeting:

“This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay – no matter the administration or party.”

“It’s only 2 mos into this admin & our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time. That’s why bold reimagination is so impt. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more.”

AOC’s squadmate Ilhan Omar also piled on the attack, tweeting:

“Multiple administrations have made the callous choice to lock up thousands of children seeking refuge in the United States of America.”

“As long as we see people seeking a better life as ‘aliens’ instead of fellow human beings, our immigration system will continue to fail us.”

The Left will always eat their own…

Fox News has more on AOC's new found criticism of Biden:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., had some strong words for President Biden's administration after news surfaced that it was reopening a child migrant detention facility in Texas.

"This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay - no matter the administration or party," the progressive icon tweeted on Tuesday.

She added: "It’s only 2 mos into this admin & our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time. That’s why bold reimagination is so impt. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more."

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., piled on, tweeting: "Multiple administrations have made the callous choice to lock up thousands of children seeking refuge in the United States of America."

"As long as we see people seeking a better life as 'aliens' instead of fellow human beings, our immigration system will continue to fail us," she added.

Located in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the center is reopening after the Trump administration utilized it amid the migrant crisis in 2019. According to The Washington Post, the facility is being reactivated to accommodate 700 minor teenagers after the coronavirus limited capacity at other facilities.

The news raised additional questions about how President Biden would handle an expected influx of unaccompanied children at the southern border.

Besides decrying "kids in cages" under Trump, Biden also reportedly told lawmakers in 2019 that he would end child migrant detention. It appeared as though with this new facility that the administration was continuing the practice of detaining children even after rescinding a Trump-era policy that led to family separation.

While it's nice to see AOC and company calling out Joe Biden, many are pointing out that she did pull a few proverbial punches in her criticism.

For starters, AOC's language is a bit more lax in her criticism of Biden, in comparison to when Donald Trump was president.

The Daily Wire explores that hypocrisy:

Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was mocked online Tuesday evening for giving only a mild criticism to President Joe Biden’s decision to open an immigrant detention facility for kids — something she called “concentration camps” when it was under President Donald Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez’s statement addressing the issue came after critics started to call her out online over her silence over the issue after she made a spectacle over it under the last administration. The Washington Post reported this week that the Biden administration reopened a facility that the Trump administration previously used for over a month to house migrants children amid a surge at the border. Biden had to reopen the facility because coronavirus restrictions allow for fewer kids to be housed in the same facility and because there has been an increase of minors apprehended at the southern border.

Under the Trump administration, Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly called the facilities “concentration camps,” which is factually false. Immigration detention facilities are not the same as concentration camps.

“This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay – no matter the administration or party,” AOC started out. However, a short time later she started to change her tune, adding, “Our immigration system is built on a carceral framework. It’s no accident that challenging how we approach both these issues are considered ‘controversial’ stances. They require reimagining our relationship to each other and challenging common assumptions we take for granted.”

“It’s only 2 mos into this admin & our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, in what appeared to be a reversal of her earlier statement, which was only a mild criticism compared to her over-the-top false claims made during the Trump-era. “That’s why bold reimagination is so impt.”

AOC's response has caused many on twitter to mock her for her blatant hypocrisy in the matter.
