Sen. Lindsey Graham Wins Re-election In South Carolina

This is a big win for Senator Lindsey Graham.

It was speculated that Graham was going to removed from office by his challenger Jaimie Harrison.

Reports broke out earlier that Harrison broke a record for fundraising in the state of South Carolina and dominated the airwaves but even with all these advantages Harrison still lost.

Sen. Graham won 56% of the vote compared to Harrisons’s 43%.

This is a big win for Republicans.

Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has secured a fourth term in the U.S. Senate. The incumbent defeated Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison, an associate chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Harrison’s massive fundraising broke records in the race.

This allowed the challenger to dominate airwaves and mount a significant ground effort. Some polling in the campaign’s closing weeks showed a head-to-head race. But Graham mustered support across South Carolina, where all statewide offices are held by Republicans and support for President Donald Trump remains strong. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he occupied a national television platform for days during the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Sen. Lindsey Graham was the projected winner Tuesday night in South Carolina’s closely watched U.S. Senate race, fending off his Democratic opponent Jaime Harrison with just 36% of the votes counted.

Graham and Harrison were locked in a dead heat for much of the election cycle, but despite record-breaking fundraising hauls by his opponent, Graham managed to secure the seat Republicans have held for nearly two decades.
