While the NBA has paid little attention to the "Black on Black" shooting sprees breaking out at record levels across the country, or said a single word in tribute to the little children, Black & White, being shot every weekend, the rest of us are decidedly racist.
Well, fans are taking notice.
Ratings for this years NBA playoffs are falling off a cliff.
From Breitbart News:
Despite near-daily efforts to show America how woke they are, or, because of it, the NBA’s playoff ratings are still tanking.
“Weekday afternoon games have certainly hurt, but the first weekend of the NBA Playoffs was no ratings bonanza either,” Sports Media Watch reported.
Viewership on ABC is down 23 percent and the numbers are down 20 percent overall compared to last year’s playoffs
“The Lakers’ win ranks as ABC’s least-watched playoff opener in five years (2015 Pelicans-Warriors: 3.49M), with the caveat that this year marked the first time since 2004 that it did not air a game on the opening day of the postseason,” Sports Media Watch added.
The league has tried to blame the coronavirus and its effects; however, SportsBusiness Daily recently noted that ratings for last season were also bad, as the 2018-2019 season lost 12 percent in viewership. That, of course, was pre-pandemic.
Other ratings reckoning also finds the NBA has lost viewers. ShowBuzz, for instance, noted that the league lost 28 percent in the important 18-49 age bracket."
The NBA is even being eclipsed by NASCAR.
With all due respect to NASCAR, the NBA has traditionally broadcast to a larger audience.
From Sports Illustrated:
A break in the action didn't seem to impact the NBA's television ratings, and that news could be considered both good and bad.
The players' decision to boycott playoff games Wednesday didn't lead to a decrease in ratings -- but it didn't boost them, either, as relayed by Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch.
In all, the league postponed games for three days before resuming Saturday. Among the games on the first day back featured LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in primetime, when they eliminated the Portland Trail Blazers in a Game 5 of their first-round series.
That game was carried by TNT and drew a 1.8 rating and 2.92 million viewers, which only dipped 1 percent from Game 4 prior to the boycott. That said, Game 5 was the least-watched game of the series.
It also was no match for the NASCAR race on NBC, which coincided with the Lakers-Blazers game and drew a 2.4 rating and 3.87 million viewers."
Fighting for Civil Rights of ALL Americans is a noble cause.
But when you earn Millions of dollars a year off Chinese Slave Labor making your shoes and say nothing about the innocent African Americans being killed or having their lives destroyed by criminals and rioters...well, people aren't going to support you.
