Philadelphia Mayor Caught Red-Handed Dining In Maryland Restaurant While Philadelphia Restaurants Remain Closed

The Democrat Party is the party of double standards.

Us normal people have to follow the rules while they flout them in public!

Take Philadelphia’s Democrat Mayor Jim Kenney for example.

He was spotted dining in a Maryland restaurant with no mask on!

All while dining in restaurants remains illegal in his city.

Check out the Instagram post exposing Kenney:

Fox News has more details on the story:

Philadelphia’s mayor is facing criticism after a photo has emerged of him dining indoors in Maryland while his city's restaurants are only permitted to serve customers outside.

The image of Jim Kenney – posted on Instagram by restaurateur Marc Vetri – was taken Sunday in the Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland, his office told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"Glad you're enjoying indoor dining with no social distancing or mask wearing in Maryland tonight while restaurants here in Philly close, suffer and fight for every nickel just to survive,” Vetri wrote next to the photo. “I guess all your press briefings and your narrative of unsafe indoor dining don't apply to you. Thank you for clearing it all up for us tonight.”

Indoor dining is set to resume in Philadelphia at 25-percent capacity on Sept. 8, according to Fox 29. Outdoor dining returned there in June after restaurants were shut down because of the coronavirus, while indoor dining has been permitted elsewhere in Pennsylvania.

Kenney addressed the uproar Monday, writing in a tweet: "I know some are upset that I dined indoors at a restaurant in Maryland yesterday.

"I felt the risk was low because the county I visited has had fewer than 800 COVID-19 cases, compared to over 33,000 cases in Philadelphia. Regardless, I understand the frustration," he said.

"Restaurant owners are among the hardest hit by the pandemic. I’m sorry if my decision hurt those who’ve worked to keep their businesses going under difficult circumstances," he added. "Looking forward to reopening indoor dining soon and visiting my favorite spots."

Here's the pathetic attempt at an apology the mayor tweeted:

And some reactions on Twitter:

Shame on Jim Kenney!

Restaurants and other businesses in Philadelphia are suffering during the forced shutdown and he's not even living up to the standards he help set.

His Twitter username even has "maskup" in it!

One of Philadelphia's chefs wasn't afraid to call out Kenney for his hypocrisy as reported by Philly Voice:

Vetri, who owns popular high-end restaurants including Vetri Cucina and Fiorella, has become increasingly vocal about policies that restrict indoor dining.

"The maddening aspect for so many of my fellow restauranteurs is the reason-defying inconsistency across industries and society," Vetri wrote last month in an op-ed for the Inquirer. "You can sit on an airplane six inches from someone with recirculated air blowing in your face for five hours. Yet there is no discussion of shutting down airlines, only bailing them out. Meanwhile, the future of federal legislation to save independent restaurants — the RESTAURANTS Act — is unclear, if finally gaining steam."

At other points, Vetri has criticized New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio and generally questioned policymakers for pinning the restaurant industry's fate on health outcomes in other parts of the economy and society.

When indoor dining resumes in Philly next week, restaurants will permitted to serve at 25% capacity, with no more than four guests seated at a table. Bar seating will not be allowed and any alcohol served must accompany a meal.

In the city as a whole, COVID-19 infections have steadily declined throughout the month of August. Severe outcomes from the virus also have been on a downward trajectory since the peak of the pandemic in mid-April.
