President Trump has just received a MAJOR endorsing.
In a rare nod from a union, the National Association of Police Orgs (NAPO) has "dropped" Biden in favor of president Trump.
NAPO, which endorsed Biden for VP in 2008 and 2012, has officially endorsed President Trump for re-election.
The announcement was first made on their official Twitter account:
NAPO has endorsed President Trump in his reelection campaign. Here is our endorsement letter which was issued following today's meeting.
See their tweet, as well as the official endorsement, below!
President Trump acknowledged the endorsement and publicly thanked NAPO for their support.
Ever since the death of George Floyd, debates around law enforcement have flared up across the country.
Many Democrats are calling to DEFUND the police.
Now, conservatives are fighting back and saying that it's time to DEFEND the police.
This is why law enforcement is overwhelmingly supporting President Trump over Joe Biden.
The union stayed silent in 2016 after 2 cycles of endorsing Biden for VP.
The fact that they dropped Biden for Trump is HUGE news!
The New York Post has more details on this developing announcement:
A coalition of police unions and associations across the country is endorsing President Trump’s re-election bid, recognizing his “steadfast and very public support” of law enforcement officers.
The National Association of Police Organizations, which represents more than 1,000 police units and associations nationwide, threw its support behind Trump in a letter released Wednesday acknowledging his “continued strong support” of cops tasked to protect Americans.
“Our endorsement recognizes your steadfast and very public support for our men and women on the front lines, especially during this time of unfair and inaccurate opprobrium being directed at our members by so many,” wrote the group’s president, Michael McHale.
The group also praised Trump for directing Attorney General Bill Barr to “aggressively prosecute those who attack our officers,” a reference to ongoing nationwide protests against racial injustice in the aftermath of George Floyd’s police-custody death, some of which have included violence against police officers.
The endorsement by the association — which met with Trump on Monday — comes after it did not back a candidate in the 2016 election, Fox News reports. It did, however, support former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.
McHale told Fox News that Trump garnered more than the two-thirds majority of votes needed among its members to secure the endorsement.
“So it’s with great pride that I announce on behalf of our National Association Police Organization our endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,” McHale said, later adding that he expects Trump to win in November while citing his signing of the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act and other measures for the backing.
The Trump campaign, meanwhile, quickly praised the endorsement as more proof that he’s the “law and order” commander-in-chief while simultaneously attacking Biden as powerless to shore up Democrats.
“Joe Biden has done nothing to stop his party’s ‘defund the police’ movement and remains silent as police officers across the country are being attacked by violent rioters and protesters,” Bob Paduchik, the campaign’s senior advisor for law enforcement and labor unions, said in a statement.
“This endorsement for President Trump highlights that as the Law and Order President, he is defending the hardworking people who risk their own lives every day to keep our communities safe.”
The union represents an estimated 241,000 policemen and women.
This endorsement will have a major impact in the election.
It has never been clearer that President Trump is the only "law and order" candidate in this race.
Many people believe that the endorsement of President Trump is "just the beginning."
As Novemver draws nearer, more law abiding citizens and organizations will begin to endorse President Trump.
The fact that NAPO has taken such a strong stand early in the election cycle will have ripple effects throughout the law enforcement community.
Fox News has more details:
Former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik, who was also a guest in the show, said that the organization's endorsement of the president is "enormous," but "only the beginning."
NAPO represents more than 1,000 police associations and 241,000 officers. They did not endorse a candidate in the 2016 election but endorsed former President Barack Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.
"You have to realize, [there are] 800,000 to 900,000 local, state and federal police officers, law enforcement officers in this country. And, if they're watching the news, if they're watching what's going on on a daily basis around the country -- whether it's Atlanta, New York City, Baltimore, Portland, Seattle -- the Democrats are completely anti-police, anti-law enforcement," he remarked.
"If that's the case, there's only one vote you need. And, that's for this president who has consistently...been a super pro-law and order president," said Kerik.
Bream asked the pair about federal involvement in high-crime cities where Democratic leaders are pushing back on the president.
McHale said he was "excited to hear" what the president's plan is moving forward, pointing out that elected officials had distorted the president's executive order to help police officers secure military surplus supplies.
"So we're excited in anticipation of the president's announcement," he reiterated, adding that the president has "continually supported legislation to include [the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act] -- things like that. And, we anticipate and hopefully have another four years."
It is no secret that President Trump loves our military and loves those who serve in law enforcement.
These civil servants literally put their lives on the line to keep us safe!
President Trump has unapologetically defended them... and now, they will defend him!
A Trump landslide will send leaders the message that the American people want law and order and want to continue investing in law enforcement to keep our communities safe!
