Biden Agrees to 3 Debates; Says “Constantly Tested” for Mental Declines and “I Can Hardly Wait”

It's official.

Former vice president Joe Biden has agreed to the customary 3 debates against President Trump.

After the DNC announced that it was moving to a largely "digital" or "virtual convention," there was a lot of speculation as to whether Biden would agree to the customary 3 in-person debates against Trump.

It appears that the answer is, "Yes."

Biden also boasted that he is "constantly tested" for mental decline and suggested he has a greater "cognitive ability" against President Trump.

In regards to the debates, Biden also added that he can hardly wait.

More details below:

Three in-person debates has been the customary standard when it comes to the presidential election.

However, COVID-19 has overturned virtually every conventional norm in 2020.

Furthermore, multiple viral videos have put Joe Biden's mental acuity in the limelight, which is why he addressed his cognitive abilities.

According to the Washington Times, Joe Biden defended his mental facilities:

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden said Tuesday he is “constantly tested” for possible cognitive decline and he can’t wait to match wits with President Trump in debates.

“I’ve been tested and I’m constantly tested,” Mr. Biden told a reporter who asked if he had been checked for a potential decline in his mental faculties.

Although there are viral videos of him losing his train of thought, the former vice president said his mental abilities are fine.

“All you’ve got to do is watch me,” he said. “And I can hardly wait to compare my cognitive capability to the cognitive capability of the man I’m running against.”

Mr. Biden committed to the standard three debates against the president this fall.

President Trump's re-election campaign recently released a "mockumentary" style video.

The video shows Biden straining for words on the campaign trail.

Trump's social media team branded the footage of Biden as a "silent film."

Donald Trump Jr. retweeted the hilarious campaign video below:

Biden's comments came after a reporter asked him if he was already preparing for the debates.

Many observers are eager to see how Biden stacks up against President Trump, who is known for his strong attacks, on stage.

According to Breitbart, Biden is eager for the debates and has committed to attending all three:

Joe Biden said on Tuesday he was eager to face off against President Donald Trump ahead of the general election, committing publicly to the customary three debates utilized in years prior.

“I can hardly wait,” the former vice president told reporters after a speech lambasting Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic while in Wilmington, Delaware. The remark was in response to a reporter asking Biden if he had begun preparing already for the debates.

Later when asked by another reporter if he would commit to doing the customary three debates between the presidential candidates, Biden asserted he would take part, even stating that he was “looking forward to them.”

Biden’s commitment comes less than a week after his campaign informed the Presidential Debate Commission they were refusing overtures by Trump to take part in more than three debates. The president, who had initially flirted with the idea of skipping the events in general, had made an aggressive push for more debates, with less formal rules. Trump, in particular, sought to decrease the role of moderators, allowing each candidate more time to discuss their agenda and priorities before a national audience.

In turning down the request for more debates, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign manager, accused the president of attempting to “distract” voters from his handling of the COVID-19 crisis.

National polls suggest that Biden is currently ahead of Trump nationwide.

However, President Trump has remained largely silent during the national unrest in the aftermath of George Floyd's death.

Biden has also remained out of the spotlight, so the media scrutiny has been off of him.

Much will change in the next few weeks, however, as both candidates hit the campaign trail.

Trump will have the opportunity to finally define Joe Biden as the ultimate Washington D.C. insider.

And Biden's mental acuity will be under scrutiny, especially on the debate stage.
