Revered Civil Rights activist, Nany Pelo….
Wait that doesn’t sound right.
Democratic Despot of the House, Nancy Pelosi, shamefully tried putting the Republican Party on the hook for the murder of George Floyd, much to the disgust of Senator Tim Scott.
Here’s what she said, according to our friends at Fox News:
Pelosi, D-Calif., speaking to CBS News Radio correspondent Steve Futterman, said Senate Republicans’ reform proposals in the wake of Floyd’s in-custody death in Minneapolis were “unsalvageable” and won’t make “any difference.”
Specifically, Pelosi said Democrats want a total ban on chokeholds, which Attorney General William Barr has also suggested he would support. But, Pelosi said, some Republicans are waffling on the issue.
“For something to happen, they’re going to have to face the realities of police brutalities, the realities of the need for justice in policing, and the recognition that there’s many good people in law enforcement, but not all. And that we have to address those concerns,” she said.
“So, when they admit that, and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration — but so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually — the murder of George Floyd,” Pelosi continued.”
For Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, equal justice in America is a far more personal issue.
But he isn't painting broad strokes, accusing an entire party of murder.
And he can't believe Speaker Pelosi is either, from the NY Post:
Republican Sen. Tim Scott torched House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “outrageous, sinful” rhetoric against the GOP and its police reform bill Friday in a blistering radio interview.
On Tuesday, as a proposal written by Scott was foundering in the face of a Democratic filibuster threat, Pelosi said that Republicans are “trying to get away with murder, actually. The murder of George Floyd.”
That, Scott said Friday, “was the most outrageous, sinful comment I’ve heard as a public official, period.”
“I thought to myself, ‘How in the world does this woman, standing in front of a $24,000 refrigerator, have the sense to jump into the bottomless pit of race politics? Why in the world would she want to do that?” he told Fox News Radio.
“And it’s simply this: They believe — and I truly believe this — they believe that campaigning on police brutality is more important than solving police reform.”
Congress is at an impasse over police reform after Senate Democrats blocked Scott’s bill, saying it did not go far enough to deal with fallout from Floyd’s death in Minneapolis — and the House passed a bill on a party-line vote that is doomed to die in the other chamber."
Senator Scott, a Republican, has actually been working towards finding a legislative solution to many citizens concerns on police reform.
The Democrats in the Senate wouldn't even vote on it.
Then comes Pelosi with her shameful rhetorical garbage.
And she's not the only white Democrat who has made an eye raising comment towards Republican legislation.
Republican Dick Durban was the first to insult the Senator's legislation:
Token?
TOKEN?!
Talk about racial dog whistles.
Of course, it shouldn't surprise us coming from the party of Dixie.
Pelosi and her cohorts have contributed nothing of meaning and are solely responsible for the continued divisions in this country.
