GA Republican Introduces Bill To Stop Child Transgender Surgeries, Make Cross-Sex Hormone Drugs Illegal for Minors

Minors aren’t allowed to drink alcohol…

Rent a car…

Or vote…

Why should they be able to get a transgender surgery and cross-sex hormone drugs at any age?

Well, they shouldn’t, if Georgia Republican State Representative Ginny Ehrhart has anything to say about it!

Ehrhart has introduced a bill named HB 1060 that would make child transgender surgeries and drugs for the same purpose illegal.

See Ehrhart’s huge announcement on her Facebook page:

A transgender procedure is irreversable.

Republicans aren't fighting to ban it altogether.

Rather, there is an interested to protect children who are young, vulnerable, and may be pressured by influences in pop culture, media, and society at large.

This conversation comes at a time when Democrats assure us that "gender is a social construct."

Huh.

Breitbart has more on HB 1060 and what it would mean for child transgender surgers and drugs:

A Georgia Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make child transgender surgeries and drugs illegal.

On February 27, Georgia State Rep. Ginny Ehrhart (R) introduced the Vulnerable Child Protection Act (HB 1060) in the Georgia House of Representatives.

The legislation would ban health care professionals from performing transgender surgeries on a minor child – such as mastectomy, vaginoplasty, castration, penectomy, etc. – “for the purpose of attempting to affirm the minor’s perception of such minor’s sex, if that perception is inconsistent with such minor’s sex.”

In addition, the bill would make illegal the administering of medications, such as puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, to children for the same purpose.

“This form of child abuse is becoming a serious problem in Georgia and is evolving into a national crisis,” Ehrhart told the local CBS affiliate about her bill in October. She added:

We are talking about children who have not reached the legal age of consent yet are being subjected to life-altering, irreversible surgeries and drug treatments that render them sterile and permanently disfigured. The psychological damage this does to innocent children must come to an end. This legislation makes such abusive actions criminal.

Vernadette Broyles, president and general counsel of the Child and Parental Rights Campaign (CPRC), told Breitbart News in an interview the bill was partly modeled after one that came close to passing in South Dakota.

While Ehrhart started the charge, many Republicans are finally coming out to support the bill and her effort.

Many say that children should be protected and that they should be taught the truth about science and biology.

Forms of genital mutilations performed on minors would be considered a felony should the new bill pass.

Ehrhart emphasizes that the "psychological damage this does to innocent children must come to an end."

While Democrats will undoubtedly accuse Republicans supporting HB 1060 of bigotry, the reality is that Republicans simply want to protect children and their welfare.

Ehrhart spoke to CBS 46 to explain why the bill protects children, but doesn't infringe the rights of adults to choose to be transgender:

Procedures that would be considered a felony include: sterilization, mastectomy, vasectomy, castration and other forms of genital mutilation. The act goes as far as prohibiting cross-sex hormone therapy and other drugs that prohibit puberty, or cause infertility.

“The Vulnerable Child Protection Act is not an attempt to infringe on the rights of adults to make lifestyle choices for themselves,” added Rep. Ehrhart. “This is about children who are being abused by adults. The sterilization and castration of children has no place in a civilized society.”

While topics like "gender identity" are culturally popular, it's important that we continue to teach our children the truth about science and biology.

"Sex" is a medically defined term, not a subjective, personal metaphysical belief.

It's time that alternative viewpoints and facts are presented to children and that safeguards are in place to prevent irreversible decisions.
