Longtime Democrat strategist James Carville knows a thing or two about winning elections. He was the trusted strategist who successfully managed the first campaign of Bill Clinton.
Now, he’s issuing a warning to any Democrat who will listen.
Carville appeared on MSNBCÂ and lamented that the Democrat party is “losing its mind.”

The interview went viral, proving that even the staunchest Democrats know how strong Trump is right now.
Vox author Sean Illing performed a follow up interview with Carville to go deeper on the specifics. Here’s what Carville had to say:
Sean Illing
Why are you “scared to death” about the 2020 election?
James Carville
Look, the turnout in the Iowa caucus was below what we expected, what we wanted. Trump’s approval rating is probably as high as it’s been. This is very bad. And now it appears the party can’t even count votes. What the hell am I supposed to think?
I’ll just say it this way: The fate of the world depends on the Democrats getting their shit together and winning in November. We have to beat Trump. And so far, I don’t like what I see. And a lot of people I talk to feel the same way.
Sean Illing
What’s gone wrong? Who’s responsible?
James Carville
I don’t know. We just had an election in 2018. We did great. We talked about everything we needed to talk about, and we won. And now it’s like we’re losing our damn minds. Someone’s got to step their game up here.
Sean Illing
What does that mean?
James Carville
In 2018, Democrats recruited really strong candidates, really qualified candidates. And the party said, “This is what we’re going to talk about and we’re going to keep talking about it.” And you know what happened? We fucking won. We didn’t get distracted, we didn’t get deflected.
If someone as experienced as Carville is nervous about the 2020 presidential elections, Democrats should be worried. Very worried.
CNN’s Chris Cillizza acknowledged that Carville is making a legitimate point. From CNN:
The Point: You may not like Carville — or the blunt way he expresses himself. But he’s not wrong. Democrats are at a fork in the road, with two very different paths before them. What path they choose could well determine their chances not just in 2020 but well beyond.
Turns out the Twittersphere can’t get enough of Carville’s insight.

I cannot get enough of this. Someone, please, give this man a television show. Would be a great, refreshing addition to the @MSNBC lineup: https://t.co/WTO1NJ12Ec

At least someone in their party is willing to say it! https://t.co/bGjNOv2Ml4

If one of the most staunch, loyal Democrats is warning his party about their future, then things are looking dim for the DNC indeed.
The Democratic Party’s infighting has resulted in a lurch to the Left. This is not palatable to most voters.
Independent voters, blue collar workers, and middle class Americans don’t want a radical restructuring of America.
They want a candidate and a president who will fight for them.
No wonder Trump’s approval is at its highest point yet!
What really jumps out is the 63% approval of Trump handling of economy–highest rating of any prez since George W. after 9/11. Victory for tax cuts/deregulation. https://t.co/CtasFBgBj3
