A Florida man who spat on 67-year-old Robert Youngblood, who was wearing a MAGA hat, in October has just been sentenced to 90 days in jail for the act.

Matthias Ajple had been charged with battery after calling Robert Youngblood a “communist” and telling him to “go back to Russia” before slapping and spitting on him.

When taken in by the police, Ajple claimed,

“I was just trying to protect you guys because I support law enforcement. Trump supporters are communist and racist. I don’t even care that I’m going to jail. This is actually exciting, plus I have more time on this earth than he does anyway, he probably feels so good about himself.”

Here’s the breaking news on Ajple’s sentence that hit Twitter:

The Daily Caller has more on this:

A Florida resident was sentenced to 90 days in prison Thursday after he spit on a 67-year-old man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in October.

Matthias Ajple, 43, was charged with battery after spitting on Robert Youngblood, The Palm Beach Post reported. Video footage shows Ajple putting what looks like a paper towel on top of Youngblood, who was wearing a MAGA hat.

“I was just trying to protect you guys because I support law enforcement,” Ajple told the deputy according to the report. “Trump supporters are communist and racist. I don’t even care that I’m going to jail. This is actually exciting.”

“Plus, I have more time on this earth than he does anyway. He probably feels so good about himself.” Ajple added.

Ajple told Youngblood to “go back to Russia” before calling him a communist, according to the 67-year-old. The 43-year-old then slapped the MAGA hat and spit on Youngblood before leaving the restaurant where the assault took place.

Newsweek also said:

Florida man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after he spat on a man wearing a Make America Great Again Hat (MAGA).

Matthias Ajple, 43, gave a no-contest plea in court, and was found guilty of battery against Robert Youngblood, 67, on Thursday, sentencing documents show.

On October 25 last year, Indian River County Sheriff's Office was called to a restaurant in the city of Vero Beach following the incident, according to an arrest affidavit seen by Newsweek.

Youngblood told police he was wearing his MAGA hat and sitting at the bar of Hurricane Grill on 943 15th Place with two friends, when Ajple walked over. He told Youngblood: "You should go back to Russia you f*cking communist."

Youngblood said Ajple then hit the brill of his hat, before leaning over a gate and spitting on him. Ajple then left the premises.

The manager of Hurricane Grill provided police with surveillance video footage of the encounter. The deputy wrote in the affidavit that the video "clearly shows" Ajple "slapping the brill of hat and leaning over the gate to spit on him."

In November, police released the video of the altercation, where Ajple appears to place a wet paper towel on Youngblood's hat as he hits it.
