Joy Behar & Ana Navarro Argue Biden’s Conflict With Iowa Farmer Helps His Campaign

The View co-stars Joy Behar and Ana Navarro claim that Biden’s triggered reaction to an Iowa farmer asking him about his and Hunter’s shady dealings with the Ukraine actually help him.

You know, the one where Biden called the man – a Democrat and potential voter – a “damn liar” then proceeded to challenge him to a push-up contest.

The video of the confrontation went viral, with reactions ranging from shocked to outraged to suspicion about why Biden wouldn’t answer the question and anywhere in-between.

However, Behar framed the confrontation as “Joe Biden showed he can take the gloves off.”

Navarro claims, “I loved it. I really did. I’ve known Joe Biden for a long time and this is Joe Biden and he is scrappin Joe Biden from Scranton. He’s going to need to be able to do this.”

For a refresher, here's the clip of Biden lashing out at the Iowa voter:

What do you think about it?

Business Insider has more to say about Biden's clash with the Iowa man:

A video shows the moment Joe Biden called an Iowa voter a "liar" and challenged him to a push-up contest after the man questioned Biden over his son's work for a Ukrainian energy firm.

Biden lashed out at the man at a town-hall event in Iowa Thursday.

"We all know Trump has been messing around in Ukraine," the man said.

"You on the other hand sent your son over there to get a job and work for a gas company and had no experience in natural gas," he said. "You're selling access to the president just like he is."

Biden responded: "You're a damn liar, man. That's not true. And no one has ever said that."

As the two talked a staffer tried to take the man's microphone, but Biden waved her away so the man could continue to speak.

"Let him go. Let him go," Biden said.

"The reason I'm running is because I've been around a long time, and I know more than most people know, and I can get things done. And that's why I'm running."

He then addressed the man's criticisms of his age and fitness, challenging the man to a physical showdown.

"Let's do push-ups together here, man," he said. "Let's run. Let's do whatever you want to do. Let's take an IQ test."

"No one has said my son has done anything wrong," Biden added, saying he "did not on any occasion" do anything wrong and that "no one has ever said it."

ABC News also said:

In a strikingly tense moment on the campaign trail, Joe Biden confronted a man at a town hall in New Hampton, Iowa, calling him "a damn liar" after he pressed the former vice president on his son's business ties to Ukraine.

"We all know Trump has been messing around in Ukraine over there, saying that they want to investigate you. He has no backbone, we know that. But you, on the other hand, sent your son over there to get a job and work for a gas company that he had no experience with gas or nothing in order to get access for the president. So you're selling access to the president just like he was," the man told Biden, after saying Biden was too old to be president.

"You're a damn liar, man. That's not true. No one has ever said that," a heated Biden responded. "No one has said my son has done anything wrong, and I did not on any occasion, and nobody has ever said it."

Biden also challenged the man to do push-ups and take an IQ test with him to prove his physical and mental fitness to be president.

After the man, who refused to give his name to ABC News, said he is not voting for Biden, the presidential contender and front-runner said, "Of course you're not. You're too old to vote for me."

The man, who identified himself as an 83-year old retired Iowa farmer, told reporters in a press gaggle after the event that he was "in favor of any other Democratic candidate who’s running," adding that Biden is "the last one on my list."
