Calls have grown to ban CNN’s April Ryan from the White House press briefings, after comments from her were understood to be inciting violence against press secretary Sarah Sanders.
Ryan, the White House correspondent for National Urban Radio Networks and a CNN contributor, reported last week that Sanders “lied” on the heels the release of special counsel Robert Mueller‘s report.
“Not only does she not have any credibility left, she lied,” Ryan told CNN anchor Erin Burnett late last Thursday. “She outright lied and the people, the American people, can’t trust her. They can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece, spokesperson, from the people’s house.”
“When there is a lack of credibility there, you have to start and start lopping the heads off. It’s ‘Fire Me Thursday’ or ‘Fire Me Good Friday.’ She needs to go,” Ryan added.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders fired right back at April Ryan, stating that not only do the Democrats keep losing, but that Ryan herself is a “journalist not to be taken seriously.”
According to The Hill:
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Monday that April Ryan’s recent comment around lopping heads off in calling for her firing proves why the reporter “is not taken seriously.”
“I have had reporters say a lot of things about me. They said I should be choked. I should deserve a lifetime of harassment. I certainly never had anybody say I should be decapitated,” Sanders told “Fox & Friends” on Monday. “A new low for liberal media.”
“I think it just once again proves why this journalist is not taken seriously,” Sanders said before later adding, “I think our team needs to remain focused on how we keep pushing those things that actually help Americans and not engage in these petty fights with journalists that again shouldn’t be taken seriously. I don’t think are taken seriously and looking for couple more minutes on TV.
“Frankly I feel sorry for them,” she said. “They lost the collusion battle.”
Sarah Sanders is one of the strongest women around, and can certainly fend for herself. However, her father and former Presidential candidate rushed to his daughter’s defense:
Will the @whca revoke April Ryan’s credentials? If not, they are gutless tools. CNN's April Ryan Says Sarah Sanders' Head Should Be "Lopped Off" https://t.co/8fdYiOzggf

According to the Daily Caller:
CNN political analyst April Ryan caught heat from former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and others for using a gruesome analogy while calling for White House press secretary Sarah Sanders to be fired.
“Not only does she not have credibility, she lied,” Ryan said on a CNN panel Thursday night, during a discussion about Sanders’ 2017 usage of the word “countless” when referring to FBI agents who had lost confidence in their former boss, James Comey.
Other conservatives also rushed to call out Ryan’s inflammatory rhetoric:
OUTRAGEOUS!@AprilDRyan said that Sarah Sanders should have her "head lopped off."
Not only is this inciting violence against the President's staff, but it's insensitive to the families of Americans beheaded by ISIS.

Maybe CNN would help its own ratings if it focused more on real, important issues that mattered to all Americans.
Should April Ryan be banned from the White House?
