DISGRACEFUL: Acosta Confronted By Angel Moms, Brushes Them Aside

Jim Acosta was up to his same old antics again at yesterday’s press conference when President Trump announced he was declaring a national emergency.

The Angel Moms were in attendance, and even before the press conference, Acosta was dismissive of the Angel Moms.

Listen to this exchange with Acosta and the CNN anchor desk where Acosta describes them as parents of victims “allegedly” killed by illegal immigrants.

There’s no “allegedly” to it Jim, that’s absolutely a disgraceful way to report the story!

Just listen to his tone of voice, so dismissive, so condescending towards this group of moms who have lost children because of the CRISIS at our southern border.

Watch:

It didn't get any better during the Press Conference either, when President Trump called on Acosta for a question after it was over.

From Fox News:

President Trump scolded CNN’s Jim Acosta on Friday during the president's Rose Garden announcement that he is declaring a national emergency on the southern border, telling the reporter he has “an agenda” -- before angel moms in attendance confronted the chief CNN White House correspondent.

The clash came as Acosta challenged Trump over what he described as a "disconnect" concerning his description of illegal immigration.

“You are presenting information about what’s happening at the border, calling it an invasion, talking about women with duct tape over their mouths and so on, and yet there is a lot of reporting out there, a lot of crime data out there ... that shows border crossings at a near record low,” Acosta said.

Trump fired back, “That’s because of us,” as the CNN reporter attempted to talk over the president.

“Excuse me,” Trump intervened. “It’s still massive numbers of crossings.”

Acosta – who has emerged as a hero among progressives for attacking Trump and members of his administration when they’re available to the press – then said stats show “undocumented immigrants committing crime at lower levels than native-born Americans.”

Trump rebuked Acosta by asking, “You don’t really believe that stats, do you?”

As Acosta tried to keep talking, Trump repeated himself.

“Do you really believe that stat? Take a look at our federal prisons,” Trump said as he gestured Acosta to hurry up with his longwinded question.

“What do you say to critics who say that you are creating a national emergency? That you’re concocting a national emergency here to get your wall,” Acosta said.

Trump pointed to angel moms in attendance, asking them for their thoughts.

“You think I’m creating something? Ask these incredible women who lost their daughters and their sons,” Trump said. “OK, Because your question is a very political question because you have an agenda. You’re CNN. You’re fake news.”

Trump told Acosta the statistics he provided were “wrong” and told him to take a look at the federal prison population for proof.

“See how many of them,percentage-wise, are illegal aliens,” Trump said. “Just see, go ahead and see. It’s a fake question.”

Confirmed by The Hill:

“What do you say to your critics who say that you are creating a national emergency, that you're concocting a national emergency here in order to get your wall?" Acosta asked.

"I'll ask the angel moms," Trump replied, pointing to mothers of victims who were in attendance. "What do you think, do you think I'm creating something?"

"Ask these incredible women who lost their daughters and their sons," Trump added.

"This is real," one mother could be heard saying.

"Your question is a very political question, because you have an agenda," Trump concluded. "You're CNN, you're fake news. You have an agenda."

Given a THIRD bite at the apple to treat these Angel Moms fairly, Acosta did another live shot after the press conference was over.

He spent most of it pontificating with his own opinions rather than listening to what these moms had to say.

He eventually talked to only one of them and then even briefly.

It was about as dismissive as you can be.

Take a look:

The Daily Caller had more:

Acosta addressed the angel mom, who he noted came up to him after the press conference.

“I wanted to point it out that folks came up to me right after this press conference was over, some of these very nice ladies here, and they’re holding up these pictures of these loved ones who lost their lives,” Acosta said. “Ma’am, you were just telling me a few moments ago this happened to you as well.”

“Yes. I’m a legal immigrant, my family came through the right channels. And this is my only son, who was murdered by a previously deported illegal alien. We need to secure our borders to protect American citizens,” the angel mom replied. “President Trump is completely correct on this issue, we need to protect this country.”

Faced with the angel mom’s firsthand account, Acosta responded delicately.

“And so Kate, as we know, because we’ve covered this for so long and there are so many passions and emotions on all sides,” he continued as he talked to colleague Kate Bolduan. “These ladies feel very passionately and very strong because of the ordeal they went through, that President Trump is in the right on this issue.”

After acknowledging the tragedy the angel moms have been through, Acosta continued to say, “the facts are on the side of not calling it a national emergency on the border, that there is not an invasion on the border and so on. It adds a lot of emotional energy to this issue.”

And from Breitbart:

During his live shot on CNN Acosta said, “You saw the moment when the president pointed to some of these ladies here so they can say the crimes that happened to our family members that those are real crimes.”

Agnes Gibboney, the mother of Ronald da Silva, said, “I’m a legal immigrant. My family came through the right channels. This is my only son Ronald da Silva who was murdered by a previous deported illegal alien. We need to secure our borders to protect American citizens. President Trump is completely correct on this issue. We need to protect this country.”

Acosta said, “As we know because we have covered this for so long and there are so many passions and emotions on all sides. These ladies feel very change because of the ordeal that they went through that President Trump is on the right in this issue. You heard the president declare that he will call this a national emergency.”
