Jacob Chansley, known as the ‘QAnon Shaman,’ was released from federal prison to a halfway house.

Bureau of Prison Records show Chansley was moved to a Phoenix-area halfway house after serving just under 27 months in prison.

Chansley’s expected release date from the halfway house is May 25th, according to CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane.

Reports said Chansley was released 14 months before his sentence was scheduled to end.

Arizona’s Family reported:

CBS News has learned that Jacob Chansley, the man known as the “QAnon Shaman” has been transferred to an Arizona halfway house.

CBS News Congressional Correspondent Scott MacFarlane reports that Chansley was moved from federal prison to the Phoenix area with a projected release date of May 25. Chansley had pleaded guilty to obstructing the Electoral College proceedings and was sentenced to 41 months in prison back in November.

“Recent changes have been made regarding First Step Act assessments such that the 28-day assessment will count as the first, and that an inmate will be able to earn 15 days after two assessments rather than three,” a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told the outlet. “These additional time credits were calculated during the last scheduled application rollout in March 2023. therefore, these changes will allow inmates to earn the extra 5 days of time credit for every 30-day period.”

Daily Mail reported that Chansley was released 14 months early from prison:

The so-called ‘QAnon Shaman’ who pleaded guilty to storming the US Capitol on January 6 has been released from prison to a halfway house 14 months before his sentence was due to end.

Jacob Chansley, 35, pleaded guilty in September 2021 to civil disorder and violent entry to the Capitol, among other charges, and was later sentenced to 41 months in federal prison.

As of Thursday, Bureau of Prison Records showed, and his former attorney confirmed in a statement to DailyMail.com, that Chansley was in a Phoenix halfway house after serving just under 27 months in prison total.

However, other reports dispute that Chansley was released early.

“Jacob Chansley Q Shaman was NOT released early. This is his lawyer explaining March 2023 was ALWAYS his release date. Do not give DOJ credit. They did not release him early,” Citizen Free Press wrote.

Read the full explanation from the lawyer:

“For the record: Jake is out on schedule. I told him 16 months ago in our first conversation it would be Feb. or Mar. 2023. BOP math. I didn’t do anything extraordinary–this was always the schedule, I just understood it and could explain it to him. He was expecting 12 more mos,” the lawyer wrote.

“But this is why the trust level between us is solid. I told him the truth, and I told him what would happen. We made several decisions after long discussions. He’s exactly where we both expected he would be. The Tucker revelations are significant but Jake can’t get the time back,” the lawyer added.

“Understanding the schedule, we agreed to not rush our next step. Let’s get accurate info on the videos, evaluate our options, then make a plan. I could have rushed it out and run to the cameras. But that wasn’t the right choice. If only his trial lawyer had done the same.”
