Ukrainian Soldier Wearing ISIS Patch?!

Twitter is buzzing with screengrabs and video of a Ukrainian soldier (Kurt, according to his helmet) sporting an ISIS patch.

Yes, that’s right.

ISIS

As in the terrorist organization that Biden supposedly has a handle on.

Fact-checkers have claimed this can’t possibly be true.

Of course, there’s a reasonable explanation for the patch!

It must be Russian disinformation.

Where have I heard that before?

Polygraph.info, a fact-checking project produced by Voice of America (funded by Congress – see more here) claims the whole misunderstanding is cleared up in their interview with “Kurt.”

On February 13, the Associated Press published a series of photographs featuring a Ukrainian military unit on the front lines. One of the photographs showed a man wearing a uniform with multiple military patches visible on his sleeves and vest.

AP identified him as a “Ukrainian commander of unit aka Kurt.” In one of the photographs, the name “Kurt” is seen on the man’s helmet.

One of the patches on the Ukrainian commander’s uniform caught the attention of Russia’s RT state news agency.

RT noted that Kurt had a patch on his left sleeve resembling the logo of the terrorist group ISIS, which RT said suggested ties between the Ukrainian military and ISIS.

Polygraph.info found and interviewed the Ukrainian commander from the AP photographs. Kurt explained that he has nothing to do with ISIS, but collects patches and wears them as trophies. The ISIS patch is a trophy he took from the body of a mercenary from Russia’s Wagner private military company, the commander said.

You can watch the full interview here.

There’s no doubt it’s an ISIS patch.

Kurt admits to it in the interview.

But, he says it’s just a trophy.

Maybe I can buy into that, but why wear it?

“Kurt,” a self-proclaimed Christian, denies supporting ISIS in the video posted below:

I’m just curious….

When our troops were fighting the Nazis in World War II, did they stick swastikas on their uniforms as trophies?

I understand taking a patch or a flag to claim your victory, but that’s not the same as wearing it.

If you insist on wearing the flag of an enemy, why not flip it upside down?

What do you think… poor judgment or ISIS supporter?
