Representative Madison Cawthorn from North Carolina’s 11th District has lost the Republican Primary.

The unofficial results of the election were  Chuck Edwards (R) had  29,411 votes (33.4%) whereas  Madison Cawthorn (R) 28,092 (31.9%).

Cawthorn did have Trump’s endorsement but hurt himself in the polls after a video leaked of him putting his genitals in his male cousin’s face.

The leaked video surfaced just a week after Cawthorn called out establishment Republicans for having coke-filled orgies.

Cawthorn accepted defeat and even sent out a tweet congratulating his opponent.

Fox News had these details to share:

Rep. Madison Cawthorn, the youngest member of Congress, failed to hold onto his House seat, after critics said the 26-year-old brought too much negative attention to his North Carolina district.

Cawthorn Tuesday night made a concession phone call to state Sen. Chuck Edwards, whose legislative seat is within the House district. Edwards had the support of Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and various other GOP officials.

“This is simply incredible,” Edwards said Tuesday night in declaring victory. “Against all odds, we fought hard to win this election and provide clear conservative leadership for the mountains.”

Edwards told voters he has the track record to bring conservative results for the district.

“I believe that he may have gotten lost in the political stardom and forgot what his role was back here at home,” Edwards said earlier this week of Cawthorn.

Cawthorn’s congressional race has been one to watch during Tuesday’s GOP primary election in North Carolina, as well as the Senate GOP primary.

NPR got the scoop too:

Rep. Madison Cawthorn, a freshman Republican who’s been beset by scandal since taking office last year, has been ousted in a heated primary in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, according to a race call from The Associated Press.

Cawthorn lost to state Sen. Chuck Edwards, who had received the backing of some Republicans who had tired of Cawthorn’s controversies.

As of the AP race call, Edwards had received more than 33% of the vote, to Cawthorn’s nearly 32% of the vote. In North Carolina, a winner just needs to cross a 30% threshold in order to avoid a July runoff election.

The result is a stunning defeat for Cawthorn, who is a fervent supporter of former President Donald Trump — and who had Trump’s endorsement.

Here’s the video that made upset the apple cart:

However, his most recent video of him making mistakes when he was 18, when he was joking around with his cousin ultimately got him ousted:
