FINALLY: Trial Begins For Clinton’s Lawyer Michael Sussman

The long-awaited trial of Clinton lawyer Michael Sussman is finally here.

On Monday, Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origin of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax will finally be seen before a court.

The trial’s first defendant is Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman who allegedly lied to FBI agents regarding receiving payments from the Clinton campaign.

Unfortunately, the Judge that will preside over the case is Judge Christopher Cooper who was appointed by Obama.

Just The News broke the story:

The first trial resulting from Special Counsel John Durham’s methodical investigation into the origins of the discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative opens Monday as 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann faces justice for allegedly lying to the FBI.

Durham alleges Sussmann lied in September 2016 when he told then-FBI-General-Counsel James Baker that he was not working on behalf of any client while feeding the federal law enforcement agency since-debunked allegations about then-candidate Donald Trump.

Judge Christopher Cooper, appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama, will preside in the trial in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The proceeding begins at 9 a.m. Eastern time.

Sussmann, a former federal prosecutor, told the FBI that the Trump Organization had a secret communications channel with the Kremlin through Russia’s Alfa Bank. The FBI, CIA, Trump-Russia Special Counsel Robert Mueller and others have debunked the claim.

Durham says Sussmann was working at the time on behalf of two clients, the Clinton campaign and then-Neustar tech firm executive Rodney Joffe. Durham intends to show that Sussmann told Congress the truth about working for the Clinton campaign after he lied to the FBI. Sussmann is pleading not guilty to the charge.

Fox News added these details:

The trial of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann is set to begin Monday morning as Special Counsel John Durham’s yearslong investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe finally lands in court.

Sussmann is charged with making a false statement and has pleaded not guilty.

The trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia with jury selection and U.S. District Court Judge Christopher Cooper presiding.

Durham alleges Sussmann told FBI General Counsel James Baker in September 2016 — less than two months before the 2016 presidential election — that he was not doing work “for any client” when Sussman requested and attended a meeting where he presented “purported data and ‘white papers’ that allegedly demonstrated a covert communications channel” between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, which has ties to the Kremlin.

Durham alleges Sussmann lied in the meeting, “falsely stating to the general counsel that he was not providing the allegations to the FBI on behalf of any client.”
