Arizona Senate Approves Election Integrity Bills

Following the evidence presented in the Maricopa County audit hearing, election integrity has become a prime concern of Arizona’s State Senate since the 2020 election.

According to the latest reports, an Arizona State Senate committee has approved several integrity election bills, including 1 limiting the amount of time a public state emergency can take place.

This is no doubt in response to the torrent of changes to election law made possible through the use of the Covid-19 pandemic as justification.

Mail in voting schemes, ballot harvesting, changes to municipal law, and regulations regarding poll workers were just some of the issues plaguing the election process in Arizona and nationwide.

Here are the details on the progress of election integrity in Arizona:

The Epoch Times reports:

Borrelli credited Republican state Rep. Mark Finchem with doing the legwork to identify a vendor to produce certified ballots using watermarks on security-grade paper. He said the ballots would provide “banknote-level security,” and cost about 25 cents each to produce.

Each ballot would include a secure holographic foil with a “proprietary original image in visible and multiple-color invisible ultraviolet inks” for added security, the measure’s language states.

The Arizona Capitol Times adds:

Each bill was approved by the committee on party lines with Democrats voting against and Republicans voting in favor of the bills. Sen. Martín Quezada, D-Glendale, was not present for all of the votes.

Four more election bills are still pending which, if adopted, could change early voting as well as registration and voting identification requirements. Since the 2020 election, an unprecedented amount of election related bills have been introduced in the House and Senate.

Notable bill sponsors this session are Sen. Wendy Rogers, R-Flagstaff, Sen. Sonny Borrelli R-Lake Havasu City, and Sen. Kelly Townsend, R-Apache Junction.
