Supreme Court Issues Ruling On Mask Mandate on Airplanes

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court rejected a request to stop mask mandates for air travel.

The father of a four-year-old autistic child filed the application, who says both he and his child cannot wear masks for medical reasons.

His request was filed with Justice Neil Gorsuch, who sent it to the full court.

The court denied the request without any comment or explanation.

The Hill reported:

Under an executive order signed by President Biden, the Transportation Security Administration requires passengers on airplanes and other public transportation to wear masks to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, which has killed more than 850,000 in the U.S.

Joining the father-son challengers was another man, Lucas Wall, who has sought to raise money and publicity from his legal efforts targeting the federal transportation mask mandate. Chief Justice John Roberts last month unilaterally rejected a separate challenge filed by the group.

While Justice Neil Gorsuch didn’t consider lifting the useless mask mandate for air travelers, he gets to work on the bench without wearing a mask.

Despite Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s refusal to attend in-person arguments, Gorsuch still has the liberty to remain maskless.

NPR wrote:

Now, though, the situation had changed with the omicron surge, and according to court sources, Sotomayor did not feel safe in close proximity to people who were unmasked. Chief Justice John Roberts, understanding that, in some form asked the other justices to mask up.

They all did. Except Gorsuch, who, as it happens, sits next to Sotomayor on the bench. His continued refusal since then has also meant that Sotomayor has not attended the justices’ weekly conference in person, joining instead by telephone.

If the masks work, can’t Americans who want the liberty to breathe fresh air sit on a plane without consuming recycled CO2.

Those that choose to wear a mask would be protected since they work, right?

But as stated by airline CEOs, masks don’t provide any value to stopping the spread of viruses on airplanes.

Individuals who want to wear a facial covering for perceived protection can wear one if it makes them feel more comfortable.

And stop demanding others submit to wearing anti-science, political symbols.
