Portland Votes To Refund the Police As Murders Hit a Record Breaking High

Only in Democratic cities do you find people who honestly think that less police means less crime.

For some reason they believe that the police are out to murder you, especially if you are a minority.

Antifa and BLM were the loudest people in the room calling for defunding the police.

In 2020 they got exactly what they asked for and the police were defunded by $15 million dollars.

Almost immediately the wait times for 911 calls shot up mostly due to the massive increase in crime.

The increase in crime should have come as no surprise, but for the people of Portland who wanted to defund the police it didn’t make any sense.

With less police shouldn’t there be less crime?

That’s what the people who pushed for it actually thought and were not prepared for what was coming next.

Portland has suffered a crime wave that has given them record breaking homicide rates that have not been seen since the 1980’s.

Portland has become the latest city to refund its police department after calls to ‘defund the police’ during last year’s Black Lives Matter protests led some municipalities to decimate their safety budgets.

Portland City Council unanimously passed a fall budget bump Wednesday that added back $5.2 million of the $15 million it cut from police last year.

It comes as the city deals with murder rates not seen since the 1980s and a staffing shortage that has led city leaders to consider hiring back retired cops.

‘Many Portlanders no longer feel safe,’ Mayor Ted Wheeler said. ‘And it is our duty, as leaders of this city, to take action and deliver better results within our crisis response system.’

Every sane person could have told them this would happen.

If you remove police from an area crime will go up.

Did they honestly think that criminals only behaved that way because cops were around?

It’s sad that it took a record breaking number of homicides for them to want to move and protect their citizens.

The good news is that this appears to be a trend in the right direction as Portland is not the only city to REFUND their police department.

Although with the staggering increase in crime it will take more money and more time to get things back under control.
