Justice is Served! Texas Democrat Receives Punishment For Fleeing State To Avoid Voting on Election Integrity Bill

“Rules for thee, not for me” seems to be the motto of the Democrat party.

The charade from the Texas Democrats fleeing their state to avoid voting on an important election integrity bill is a prime example.

If any of us left our jobs the way the Texas Democrats did, we wouldn’t have a job to come back to!

One of the options Texas Republicans have to hold the Democrats accountable is to remove legislators from their posts.

Dade Phelan, the House Speaker, moved forward and announced the removal of the first Texas Democrat Thursday Morning.

Texas Democrat Representative Joe Moody has been removed from his position as speaker pro term in the Texas House, effective immediately.

Joe Moody came out with a statement shortly after defending his actions and “values” while saying his dad and husband titles will never change.

Did Moody forget that Democrats ruled not to use gender-specific language like “dad and husband”?

He also forgot to add his other value of skipping work on the taxpayers’ dime!

Who will be the next Texas Democrat to fall?

Dade Phelan has been making strong moves to hold the Texas Democrats accountable for their actions.

Phelan announced Thursday that He is chartering a plane to Washington TODAY to bring everyone back!

Austin American-Statesman has more on the story:

El Paso Democratic Rep. Joe Moody was removed from his post as speaker pro tempore of the Texas House on Thursday, as Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, exercised one of the few options available to Republicans who remain at the state Capitol to punish quorum-busting Democrats in Washington.

Phelan on Thursday also announced that he plans to charter a plane that will be “on standby” in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, ready to bring lawmakers back to Austin.

“I am demanding all of our colleagues in D.C. to contact my staff immediately in order to secure their seat on the plane and return to Austin in order to do the state’s business,” he said in a statement. “The State of Texas is waiting.”

Without a quorum in the chamber, House Republicans cannot act on legislation and are limited in actions they can take against Democrats who left the state to block passage of a GOP priority elections bill.

On Tuesday, lawmakers voted to order state law enforcement officers to track down absent members, and some also sought to remove Democrats from committee leadership positions, but Phelan said that was not permitted under House rules.

The speaker pro tem presides over the Texas House when the speaker is absent. The position is different from committee leadership positions, and, in his order detailing his decision to strip Moody of the title, Phelan cited a House rule as authorizing the move.

Moody has served as speaker pro tem for two legislative sessions and was first appointed in 2018 by then-House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, R-Lake Jackson, becoming the first El Paso lawmaker to be named to the post.

Moody declined to comment on the decision to the American-Statesman, but he addressed the news in a tweet: “The most important titles in my life will never change: Dad, Husband, El Pasoan. Nothing political has ever even cracked the top three, so nothing has changed about who I am or what my values are.”

Phelan also called on the absent members to return their legislative $221 per diem to the state for each of the days they’ve spent away from their duties in Austin.

He released a list of names of 47 members who have not started the process of returning the dollars to the state treasury.

State Rep. Lina Ortega of El Paso is one of a handful of members who has agreed to return the money to the state. Speaking from her hotel in Washington, she said it was a personal decision and she supports her colleagues who have chosen otherwise.

While Phelan is moving forward to ensure the Texas Democrats are held accountable to the taxpayers they serve, Americans are also calling for their arrest.

As per usual, Democrats, with the help of fake news, have spun this story to be about “civil rights.”

Here is how the Democrats are spinning the story on the MSM:

Democrats have argued that their fellow Texas Democrats cannot be arrested.

However, Texas Governor Abbott came out and said YES! They can absolutely arrest the Democrats upon their return.

Governor Abbott and Glenn Beck sat down and discussed the possible (impending?) arrests of the Texas Democrats who fled their state.

The Blaze has more:

What is actually in Texas’ new GOP-led voting bill? Nearly every Texas House Democrat fled the state to block its passage, calling it racist and oppressive, and President Joe Biden backed them as well.

But Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Friday to set the record straight and call out the lies: All of these claims are “completely false.” He also explained his promise to “arrest” the Texas House Democrats when they return to the Lone Star State.

“What is in the bill is completely different than what they’re saying, what Kamala Harris is saying, what President Biden is saying. What’s in the bill actually increases the number of hours that people have to vote in the state of Texas. In the state of Texas, we have at least 12 days of early voting, and we are adding hours to those days. And on top of that, we are giving people time off from work to be able to vote. Bottom line, we’re making it easier to vote in the state of Texas,” Gov Abbott explained.

“In comparison, Delaware — the state that President Biden votes in — has exactly zero hours of early voting,” he added. “That said, there is one thing that we’re doing in the state of Texas, and that is we’re making sure we tighten the reins on mail-in ballots that can lead to voter fraud. And it’s not me saying that. It’s a federal judge, appointed by Barack Obama, in Corpus Christi, Texas, who wrote in a legal opinion that voter fraud occurs, quote, in abundance as it concerns mail-in ballots. We know. Texans know. There is fraud in mail-in ballots in the state of Texas. It must be fixed. That’s one thing we’re trying to do. That being said, all these claims that we’re denying people the right to vote and yada, yada, yada, are completely false.”

Abbott went on to discuss the much-debated voter ID laws in Texas and to explain why Democrats insist on calling basic voter ID requirements “racist.”

“When Democrats do not have truth on their side, they resort to one single word and that is ‘racism’ … Texas implemented voter ID almost a decade ago, and when we went through that fight, what word did they use? Racism,” he said. “Guess what? After Texas imposed voter ID requirements in the state of Texas, there have been more people voting and more people of color who went to vote. Voting didn’t get harder. It got easier and more abundant in the state of Texas. And so, once again, Democrats have absolutely no legal standing, other than to say, ‘racism.'”

Glenn asked Gov. Abbott to explain his pledge to “arrest” the Democratic lawmakers that fled once they return to Texas.

“Let me explain how this works. So, whenever there is a break of quorum, which is what is happening now — meaning there is not a sufficient number of people who are showing up to the Texas House of Representatives for the Texas House to engage in business. Whenever there’s a quorum break like that, the House issues what’s called a ‘call on the House.’ And when that happens, the sergeant-at-arms is authorized to work with the Texas Department of Public Safety, to — you can call it arrest, apprehend, whatever you want to call it — any of the members who are not in the Texas House of Representatives and bring them to the Texas House where they will be ‘cabined’ with no ability to leave the Texas House chamber, without a permission slip from the speaker.”

With Joe Moody removed from their house of cards, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the Texas Democrats come crumbling down.
